Yeah, its a highly modified version of the Q3 engine, and in my opinion is very, very impressive; both in its performance and its visual quality. This demo is terrific, much better than Unreal II, and runs very smooth [Athlon 1.4Ghz, 512MB pc2700 DDR, GeForce4 Ti4200]. Running at MAX detail, 1024 x 768, 4 x Anistropic, 2 x AA.
