In between the various missions, AquaNox 2 advances its story by having you as Drake speak with other members of the pirate crew as well as other folks if they happen to be docked at a friendly underwater city. These sequences allow you to unlock the various missions in each section of the game's story (and some of these conversations can be somewhat adult which may explain the game's "M" rating). You can also outfit your ship with weapons and items, which can be automated or controlled completely by the player. Although the game is ultimately a linear experience, each section of AquaNox's 2's story does have missions that can be played in different orders and there are secondary objectives in each mission that can be completed for extra credits or "booty". Credits can be used at an underwater city’s local gunrunner to get and sell more weapons and items. Unfortunately the game is single player only and does not contain multiplayer modes but after the completion of each mission you can replay them at any time in the title’s instant action mode.
