Amazon... more like SCAMazon - tech
(hx) 12:38 PM CET - Mar,07 2023 - Post a comment / read (12)
At one point, Amazon was game changing and felt like the best place to shop online. Don’t have to worry about the scams and crappy quality on Ebay and Alibaba. But then something changed. Suddenly all you can find on the website is cheap garbage, or worse, complete scams. We take a look at one of the most prevalent scams on the platform, fake SSDs and hard drives. What do you get when you buy one of these, and how do they keep getting away with it?

For the first time, I agree with what he has to say.
I stopped buying most things at Amazon - I only buy there the things I can't get elsewhere.

Sabot(02:39 PM CET - Mar,07 2023 )
Thing is if you buy from Amazon and it’s fulfilled by Amazon. You don’t need to worry shit. I bought a graphics card donkeys ago from a seller on Amazon -fulfilled- and it came with dust and fluff in it. Amazon didn’t give a toss,no justification no quibble, full instant refund and pickup at home and return label to Amazon depot. They also ripped the seller a new one!
The delivery guy gave me my new card and picked up the used one -next day. Didn’t even have to leave the house for anything. Lol.
Try dealing with an online seller like that! Good luck when it goes tits up. I’m not saying Amazon is perfect, but stay away from 3rd party and get ‘fulfilled’ then you’re protected. Only been doing it for about 28 years now with Amazon……prime member.

Remember this first and foremost.
Amazon is a go between from seller to you as a *shop front*. IF you buy prime and fulfilled.
If not, your gripe isn’t with Amazon, it’s with the seller - just like any online transaction. If things sound too good then they are… no shit Sherlock.

You do have a choice. But it’s you that raises it with Amazon or trading standards. Just mouthing off about it isn’t stopping it. Fuck sake, back in the 80s there was markets on Sunday in cities and towns that stall holders would just rent a pitch for the afternoon. Sell shit that broke, didn’t do what it was supposed to do and they were gone! No point going back, no shop,no seller address, no nothing. Sound familiar today?

If you buy from a seller on Amazon then that’s a gamble you chose.
My wife runs a business and uses Amazon at least once a week. Never in near 30 years have we had an issue that isn’t instantly resolved.
Here’s a couple.
Bought a pair of walking boots, description ‘waterproof’ fulfilled. Complaint, not waterproof. Refund and keep the boots.

Bought an airfryer, packed in 11 months out of 12 warranty. Fulfilled.
Refund, and prepaid label bought a new one no loss.

Wall cabinet, parts missing. Sent a whole new unit, picked up the old one by courier.

Bought two graphics cards to try performance AMD and Nvidia.
Sent the AMD one back as not happy with it. No quibble return refund.

We’ve had more obviously but I will *never* deal with 3rd party for expensive components or house goods unless it’s fulfilled by Amazon. You’re just cutting your nose off for the most basic protection you can have.

All these moaners blaming Amazon are those that used 3rd party and haven’t a fucking clue how to shop in the street never mind online!

If you buy ‘johnynobody’ products, you get what you deserve! 16TB SSD by who………
Directly copied and pasted from Amazon seller:

Dispatches from
LEIZHANG GOODS LTD
Sold by
LEIZHANG GOODS

No make model or anything. Just flash drives stuck in an aluminium case like a laptop ssd external adapter case.
Your the idiot!

Csimbi(07:43 PM CET - Mar,07 2023 )
Well, yeah, if you buy from noname sites then you are the idiot.
But I think you missed the point.

Sabot(08:07 PM CET - Mar,07 2023 )
Csimbi> Well, yeah, if you buy from noname sites then you are the idiot.

Except I *didn’t* say no name sites, did I?
I said johnynoname **products** the SSD etc has NO manufacturer name on them. So if you’re happy to go and buy a 12GB Graphics Card - called a 12GB Graphics Card from Amazon or eBay or any other site, who’s the stupid arse hole?
Same for the SSD. it’s not news it’s just stupidity and a classic generation thing where they know the price of everything but the value of nothing.
They want something for nothing!
The simple reason is if it had a name like Samsung on the SSD and it was fake (like it is) then their arses would be nailed to the wall. So they just sell to gullible idiots that see a price not a product and buy it.
Simple as.

You missed the whole point big-time

I used to work at Amazon and can confirm, that the above is the key to success and being happy as a customer. Just purchase items that are sold and fulfilled through Amazon, or fulfilled through Amazon, since in those cases, the customer care is taken care of by Amazon CS.

If you purchase from sellers (sold by XX, fulfilled by the same XX) with bad ratings, it's your own fault. Anyone can sell through Amazon. If you get scammed, you can still file an A-Z claim with Amazon and they will refund you, but crying over having a bad experience in such cases would be like trashing Facebook for getting scammed over the FB Marketplace = just braindead ppl, everywhere ...

Thank you!
It’s an absolute stupid scenario that the idiot in the vid represents, and a comment or two here…. If you need fake products described to you, you’ve got a helluva lot of growing up still to do!
When it’s 100% common sense to check the sellers address, location - even look it up to see if it’s legit and exists not some POBox number!
Does the product have a name “16TB Samsung SSD” Go straight to Samsung compare prices for a start.

100% if it’s too good to be true, then it is.
I’m building a new rig come this December and I’ll be buying most of my products from Amazon shops (like I’ve done for decades), “fulfilled”. I don’t need to worry about returns, or scams or dealing with emails, phone calls etc.

Csimbi, I worry about you. Have you not learned anything.
The days of multiple component shops in the high street and online - long before the president of Nigeria promised some of his wealth to you if you gave him your bank account details to him……….have gone. I trust as many shops online as I have fingers on one hand. Even then, it takes nothing to clone your card details unless you use a secure payment method ie Apple Pay/Google pay.
Everyone wants to scam everyone. Simple as

Csimbi(03:43 PM CET - Mar,08 2023 )
I have, but you missed the point of the video, so... I won't argue, just leave you be.
You have valid points which I have no intention to argue, it's just that I think that you are looking at it from the wrong angle.

You punchline is spot on:
Sabot> Everyone wants to scam everyone.
So why would Scamazon even want to make a difference?
Their scam works.

Sabot(08:53 PM CET - Mar,08 2023 )
Again, Csimbi you *blindly* don’t see it, don’t you?
Amazon has bugger all to do with 3rd party sellers directly. They are a **shop window** exactly like Steam. If a seller wants to sell on Amazon, you pay Amazon - just like steam or eBay - and they take a cut of sales. Do you think that Amazon directly analyses ever product sold by 3rd party sellers around the world on their store! Lol you’re sadly mistaken!
Your grief is with the seller in whatever country they sell from. Amazon will mediate with you and them and that’s it.
You didn’t part money with Amazon, you’re a fool easily led.

This is the same shit I read daily in papers or on the net, people blame the company when they bought goods/tickets from the seller.

The simple answer is banged out to you a million times (I’m sure you’ve been screwed the way you’re going on about this…?) is don’t buy from 3rd party.

Here’s another cracker that idiots fall for. Sell a car, motorbike put it on a net seller site. People then go visit the seller, gps the location of the car/bike -shed garage, then go back at night break in (masked up) and steal it! Simple.

I haven’t a clue why the penny hasn’t dropped with you after all that’s been said and proved. Maybe you just can’t accept the home truth, nothing unusual steam is full of people that are always right when they are blatantly wrong - hiding behind the keyboard is the disease of the century. No humble apology or acceptance, just pig ignorant and people no longer engage with them and block them.

It’s piss easy to go and do your own homework instead of being annoying, but again, this is just the bloody annoying nature of this generation today….
https://www.jdsupra.com/legalnews/is-amazon-liable-for-third-party-9783896/

This is America, whereby their laws are absolute farcical nonsense. In the EU completely different.

quote:
When do I use the "I returned my order" reason while filing an Amazon Pay A-to-z Guarantee claim?

If a merchant has clearly misrepresented the condition or details of an item in a way that affects its value or utility, the merchant should be willing to offer a refund or exchange per the terms of the merchant's return policy. If the merchant does not accept the return of an item that is made in accordance with the merchant's return policy, you may qualify for coverage under our Amazon Pay A-to-z Guarantee. Please visit our Return Help pages for more information regarding returns.

When submitting your claim, please provide further details about the desired resolution by choosing one of these options:

Received no refund: You returned the item, but did not receive a refund from the merchant.
Received no replacements: The merchant promised a replacement, but you did not receive a replacement.
Received insufficient credit: The merchant issued you a refund, but it's less than what you expected.
Ordered wrong items: You returned an item you ordered by mistake.

Not exactly Scamazon at all, just use your bloody brain!

Csimbi(01:12 PM CET - Mar,09 2023 )
Ok, you wanted it, here we go.

In my opinion the point of the video is not Amazon being a scam - and in fact, they do state in the video that it is not.
However, the fact that Amazon lets these noname Chinese firms come back over and over again under a different name, is a problem because there is always a "new company" trying to scam anyone not tech-savyy enough out of their money.
Nobody here argued Amazon is not doing a decent job when someone is asking for a refund. Amazon actually excels at it, as you said so yourself.
The point is, Amazon at the moment is a hotbed for scammers and Amazon does nothing about it, ultimately appearing to fund the Chinese gray and black markets with inaction.
Heck, you could even use this for money laundering - maybe there's a little bit of that, too on the side already.
I'm sure you are aware inaction is just as punishable by law as action - yet nothing happens. Why?
We help produce and ship tons of garbage around the planet and have innocents pay for it - yei, great job, Amazon!
Not only a slap in the face of innocent users, but even mother nature.
You are right, it's not a scam. It's much worse. It's crime against humanity and nature.
I'm very sorry people can't see that and our descendants will have to live on a garbage pile because of that.

jamessanders(11:08 AM CEST - Sep,15 2023 )
I want to ask, what would the legitimate purpose be for a seller to change the entire category for a listing? The only thing I can think of is if the seller wants to change to a very closely related category that gets more traffic, etc., but it seems like a niche case at best. But Amazon has some interesting options for gaming, described here https://poptopic.com.au/article/how-to-use-amazon-pay-to-deposit-and-withdraw-at-an-online-casino/ , which is a really good method. I would say that two easy things to combat this tactic would be to either make it so a product can only be changed to one in a closely related category or make it so major things like this need to be approved by Amazon in order to update the listing.

It is up to you to decide. But you are the one who brings it up with Amazon or trade regulations. The bare minimum of protection is what you're getting when you chop off your nose. The reason is straightforward: their ass would be nailed to the wall if the SSD had a name like Samsung on it and it was phony, which it is. Thus, all they do is sell to stupid fools who buy things based just on cheap rather than quality.

Yerrof(04:24 PM CEST - Apr,04 2024 )
I think when talking about online business one must find interesting solutions to make the work much easier. And for example using such thing as malling exctractor [color=black:8860a63a93]https://letsextract.com/email-sender.htm[/color:8860a63a93] can make things much easier if you want to keep in touch with your clients, or maybe with new potential clients as well
