'Airlines terror plot' disrupted
- briefly

A plot to blow up planes in flight from the UK to the US
and commit "mass murder on an unimaginable scale" has been disrupted, Scotland Yard has said. It is thought the plan was to detonate explosive devices smuggled in hand luggage on to as many as 10 aircraft. Police are searching premises after 21 people were arrested. Home Secretary John Reid said they believed the "main players" were accounted for.
Several readers have pointed out new restrictions imposed as a result of this plot on passengers' carry-on luggage. Hand luggage allowances have been stripped back to little more than wallets, travel documents, verifiable prescription medicines, contact lenses or glasses, essential baby items, female sanitary items, tissues (unboxed). Food and drink, other than baby milk, has also been banned. Parents, apparently, must "verify" baby milk by tasting it in front of security staff. Keys are allowed, but NOT electronic types, including remote car locking types. All electronic items - laptops, ipods, phones, etc - are verboten and must be stashed in suitcases.
The crackdown on electronic items has fuelled speculation that the plot could have involved some kind of remote detonation, using a mobile phone or electronic car key for example, or some kind of device that would be assembled once on the air plane. At the same time, the ban on liquids suggests authorities suspect the alleged plot involved some type of liquid type explosive. Unsurprisingly, the additional security measures are causing massive delays, with some flights being cancelled.

I have been watching CNN/SkyNews for the last 30 minutes. Considerable detail has already been released and it's still the first day of the operation.
We have been told:
* Liquid explosives were planned to be hidden in soft drinks bottles (hence the ban on liquids).
* The explosives would be detonated over the atlantic (to ensure maximum fatalities).
* The attack would come in waves. As things start to clam down after the first wave, another wave was to be launched.
* The deah toll would be greather than 9/11.

Kind of sucks, my dad is leaving for Chicago this morning. So I had to drop him off 3 hours before his flight (usually a hour to two tops is sufficient). And tomorrow I will be taking a plane out to where he is in Chicago for the same business stuff.
Freaking terrorists, get a job!

Yeah pretty sad but cool they foiled it. It concerns me only in that they are so sure of themselves when they stop em, what if this is just a distraction for something else already underway..? I just hope they get that Bin Ladin and fry his balls something serious. I don't know how these Taliban morons could even conceive they are on the right path or much less how they expect ANY sympathy around the world. All they do is cowardly acts. The whole world wants to see each and everyone of them hung. Must be smoking some serious drugs..

its amazing how these idiots are having their 'holy war' against civilians, i swear all these idiot terrorists were dropped too many times on their heads as children and then brainwashed with 'i wanna grow up to be a princess suicide bomber'...ugh that was a sick vid i saw with all these kids singing that in some arab school.
oh and if u think 3 hours is bad, international flights ask you to come 6 hours in advance i think.
