PC Gameplay has wrriten a new preview of Age of Mythology, Ensemble Studios' upcoming 3D RTS game.
"In Age Of Mythology these ancient legends are taken in a literal sense, thus the creatures and gods from myth physically appear in the game. Ian Fischer, Lead Designer at Ensemble, explains the exact role of gods in Age Of Mythology: “Players decide which gods their people are going to follow and this choice defines many of the options available to the player during the game. For example, players can work to gain favour with a god, then use this god to take action on his behalf."
"These actions fall into three broad categories: players can petition gods to send their servants to aid them (ask Poseidon to send his Cyclopses into battle), cause an event on their behalf (ask Zeus to strike an enemy down with lightning) or bestow blessings upon them (pray to Ra for a good harvest). The specifics depend upon the gods the player follows; different gods offer different things.” [more]
