- Video Game Makers Stay Course, Aim Not to Offend - Leaders of the video game industry, long accused of promoting
violence, say they will take pains not to offend a public shocked and grieving after
Tuesday's terror attacks in the United States.
- Empire Earth Movie - SpelletjesGarnaal has posted a new movie
(11MB) of Empire Earth taken from beta copy of Stainless Steel Studios'
upcoming 3D RTS game.
- Kreed Movie - DailyTelefrag has
posted a new movie (30MB) of Kreed movie, the upcoming 1st-person shooter by
Russian developer Burut. The movie shows off some neat particle, fogging, and lighting
effects as well as the standard weapons/maps stuff.
- Sky Sports Football Manager interviewed - Sky Sports Football Manager
is not any ordinary management sim. Developer HotGen is attempting
to redefine the genre, dragging it out from the dark, testosterone-laden pit of
teenage boys, into the vast, gregarious planes of the cyberspace community.
- Via's Zoetrope revealed - Zoetrope is an improved
3D engine which it will use in future products. The technology, estimated to sample in Q4
this year, has a dual pipe/twin texture, 166MHz core, will come in with 128-bit DDR
support at .15µ (microns), and deliver 3DWB of over 100. It will be used in what Via
describes as its SMA chipsets.
- Quiet debut for Nintendo's GameCube - Greeted by small armies of game
fanatics, Nintendo Co. Ltd.'s GameCube game console tiptoed onto shelves in Japan on Friday minus the hype surrounding the
arrival of its big-muscled rivals.
- Unreal 2 Goodies - The official Unreal 2 site has been updated with a
ton of new goodies including several new screenshots, and several new wallpapers.
- Colin McRae confirmed for PS2 - Codemasters, developer of the Colin McRae series, confirmed today they
are developing it for PC, as well as next generation consoles, with the Xbox and PS2 being
likely candidates. The new Colin McRae game is scheduled for release in 2002.
- Duke Nukem delayed - It's not big surprise for me, but according
to CNet, the game is being reviewed for possible offensive scenes, such as depictions
of the WTC. The game's logo and a clip of highlights were removed because they contained
images of the World Trade Center.
- Max Payne interview - Tolstiy's Place has posted a brand new interview with one of
the creators of a stunning action game Max Payne. They caught Matias Myllyrinne of Remedy
to talk about the creation of Max Payne, as the main hero of the game - how did it happen
that he is he and not an other person.
