- Freelancer Previews - Both
GameZone and
GamesDomain have posted their previews of Freelancer, the upcoming and
long awaited space sim game from Digital Anvil and Microsoft.
- NASCAR Racing 2003 Preview - Operation Sports has posted
their own
preview of NASCAR Racing 2003 based on playing the press demo of the
upcoming racing sim from Papyrus and Sierra
- Tropico 2 Preview - GameSpy is the latest website to post
a preview of Tropico 2, based on checking out an early build of the
upcoming pirate sim from Frog City and Gathering of Developers.
- City of Heroes Shots - GameSpy has posted
six new screenshots from City of Heroes, the superheroes MMORPG in
development at Cryptic Studios.
- Firestarter Shots - The official
Firestarter website has been updated with 3 new screenshots from this
upcoming FPS currently in development at GSC Gameworld.
- Freedom Force Patch 1.2 - Irrational Games have released a new
Freedom Force patch (WorthPlaying
~ FileShack),
updating the superheroes RPG to version 1.2. This new patch fixes a few bugs
and adds support for Surround Gaming for those of you with a Matrox Parhelia
videocard.
- Jagged Alliance 2 Gold Patch - The
Jagged Alliance 2 Gold
patch 1.12 fixes quite a bit of bugs.
- Total Immersion Racing US retail patch #3 - Hot on the heels of the
European patch, there is now a
US
patch for Total Immersion Racing to bring this third update to Razorworks'
modern racing simulation as well. As before, this release fixes force feedback
and engine sound effects, adds more configuration options, and addresses a
pair of DirectX issues.
- German Anno 1503 Demo -
German demo version of Sunflowers' city-building trading strategy prequel
is now available. The demo includes two scenarios that demonstrate the arts of
exploration & settling and trade & diplomacy
- 3DMark03 Teaser - Futuremark have posted
a teaser trailer (requires Windows Media 9 codec) for their benchmark
program 3DMark03.
- Spellforce Trailer&MP3s - Tiscali Games let us know that the
official Spellforce website has been updated with
new movie trailer (91MB). For modem leechers, Tiscali Games offer
much smaller DivX version (16MB) with proper sound compression. In
addition, the creator of the
Spellforce
Music offers 3 MP3s from the title for download.
- C&C Generals Pre-sell program -
Electronic Arts announced
today that, beginning this week, it will offer an exclusive Officers Club
pack to players who pre-order the highly-anticipated 3D real-time strategy
game, C&C Generals from participating retailers. C&C Generals will be
published by EA under the EA GAMES brand Feb. 11, 2003. The Officers Club pack
is the only place to get exclusive information and in-game elements including:
an unique Officers Club medal icon, flag, a full-color fold-out tech tree
card, full-color multiplayer map strategy card, and an interactive CD-ROM with
concept art, movies, music and more. Retailers currently participating in the

- Planetary Defense Released - UK Based Independent Games developer
Positech Computing announced today the release of their arcade/strategy
game
Planetary Defense (download
demo) Planetary Defense puts you in charge of a variety of worlds,
defending them against enemy attack. You have to defend against missiles,
laser equipped satellites, cloaked starships, multiple-warhead rockets and
flaming meteors, by guiding defensive missiles to their targets.
- 3ds max 5.1 Released -
Discreet has
released a version 5.1 of the popular 3D animation, rendering, and
modeling program 3ds max 5.1 that is being used by professional throughout the
industry.
