Disney+ Kills 4K and HDR in Europe - briefly

Disney+ has removed 4K UHD and HDR10 support across much of Europe.

Premium subscribers who paid for higher quality are now stuck with lower resolution streams.

Disney confirmed the change is due to a recent court ruling affecting the technology used to deliver 4K and HDR.

The company said it is “disappointed” and is working to restore the features, but gave no timeline.

This follows an earlier removal of Dolby Vision in June related to a patent dispute.

Many users are angry after paying extra for Premium only to lose the main benefits.

Temporary my ass. That’s them just wanting to keep subscribers.
In other words, it was Disney playing the smart arse and not paying for licensing to use the technology.

Meanwhile, Amazon prime continues to show HDR 10+ and 4K and of course makes its own films in it.

Imagine the compensation payout for still taking direct debit off of subscribers , that aren’t even getting it. :roll:

Yeah, thank god for all the wonderful people who rip this stuff and make it available to download. Paid media is just making things worse and worse for the people who pay for it, insane amounts of ads, shitty quality and more.
