A Zotac RTX 5090 graphics card failed dramatically with a loud pop, crackling, and thick smoke after only five minutes of gaming.

The 16-pin power connector was untouched, but damage appeared near the PCIe connection, possibly from a short circuit or board crack due to GPU sag.

The user was playing a new game with fresh drivers when it happened.

RMA is underway as the cause is investigated.

Anyone that can afford an RTX 5090 isn’t really bothered. Zotac will be around personally to give him a blow job and a new one.
