Subnautica 2 has smashed records by hitting a peak of 453,445 concurrent players on Steam just one hour after its early access launch on May 14, 2026. The underwater survival sequel quickly topped Steam charts and drew huge praise for its stunning visuals, even in early access. This strong debut builds on the original game's loyal fans, over 5 million wishlists, and day-one availability on Game Pass. It also comes after a big legal win for developer Unknown Worlds against publisher Krafton. The game has already sold over 1 million copies on day one.

Almost 500k players within a couple of hours on launch day for Subnautica 2, and it only gets a 7/10
