SSD prices in Japan have skyrocketed by up to 300-384% due to the global AI storage crunch. An 8TB Samsung 9100 Pro drive now costs around $3,500 in Tokyo shops—nearly double the U.S. price of about $1,960 on Amazon. Other Samsung models like the 4TB and 2TB 9100 Pro, plus more affordable ones such as the 990 Pro, have also seen big jumps. Japanese consumers are feeling the pain hardest as AI data centers drive massive demand for storage chips.
