HP remotely disables Instant Ink cartridges - even when full of ink - if customers cancel their subscription, forcing them to pay £0.99–£22.49 monthly or buy new standard cartridges.
In one case, Nicola Wordsworth from the UK couldn't print a vital medical document for her father after cancelling, despite ink remaining, and had to resubscribe out of desperation.
The policy, buried deep in HP's terms, has drawn years of complaints, with the printer staying online to monitor usage and enforce locks.
Workarounds: Replace disabled cartridges with standard retail ones; block the printer's internet access via router or Wi-Fi Direct/factory reset to limit checks (mixed success); or avoid HP entirely in favour of Brother/Epson models.

Good. The world brought this on itself with generations that own NOTHING but have their whole life on contracts and subscriptions. A latest survey puts this generation as financially surviving for 3-6 months with losing a job.
