Rufus's major 4.14 update introduced a new silent installation method for Windows 11, but users are reporting failures at around 75% completion on clean disks. Developer Peter Batard confirmed the bug stems from drive letter mapping conflicts, where the tool's USB mapping to D: clashes with Windows Setup's reserved drive behavior on blank systems. The issue ties to the Autounattend XML file and doesn't affect standard installs or systems with existing partitions. A test fix is available on GitHub, with avoiding silent mode as a temporary workaround.
