An Indian buyer ordering a Gigabyte RTX 5090 graphics card worth approximately ₹2.9–3 lakh (~$3,200) from Amazon India was shocked to unbox a 1 kg packet of Ghadi detergent powder valued at just ?150–200. The shipment, fulfilled directly by Amazon (FBA) from their warehouse, weighed only 1.56 kg according to the official label—far below the expected 2.5+ kg for a genuine RTX 5090—clearly indicating tampering or fraud. Despite providing unboxing video evidence and photos, Amazon reportedly denied the refund after investigation, insisting the correct item was shipped. Multiple similar cases surfaced in the same week, with at least two other buyers receiving detergent instead of high-end GPUs. The incident has sparked widespread criticism of Amazon's handling of third-party seller scams amid RTX 5090 shortages.
