A reseller is raising alarms after receiving multiple returned Zotac RTX 5090 cards stripped of their GPU core and VRAM modules, with the theft captured in a teardown video shared widely on X.

Okay this is nuts.

This scam, first documented in mid-2025 by repair shop Northwestrepair on a $2,000 Zotac card missing its entire GB202 die and GDDR7 memory chips (plus stripped mounting screws), has since hit resellers like Baily ecom, Amazon buyers in the US and France, and Micro Center, where over 30 factory-sealed boxes arrived stuffed with backpacks instead. Criminals desolder the high-value silicon—worth far more than the full card on black markets amid shortages and prices topping $3,000—to resell separately, echoing identical RTX 4090 frauds.
