PC gamers frustrated with subtle frame-rate dips now have a simple fix: disable Windows 11’s built-in Copilot AI, which quietly runs background processes and consumes system memory even when unused. Independent reports confirm the Microsoft 365 Copilot App can hog 250-300 MB of RAM in the background, leaving less for games and contributing to minor stutters or FPS loss on mid-range rigs.

Turn it off instantly in Settings > Personalization > Taskbar by toggling Copilot to Off, or use the Group Policy Editor (User Configuration > Windows Components > Windows Copilot) to enable “Turn off Windows Copilot” for a permanent kill on Pro editions.

This tweak, already automated by popular gaming optimizers like TunedPC, frees resources for steadier frame rates and smoother gameplay without any downside for non-users.

Windows 11 Copilot can use memory in the background while you game taking away FPS. If you never use it, turn it off and free up system resources.
