The experiment, which started with 50 titles in 30 regions, now covers over 150 games—including Sony's own AAA hits like Marvel's Spider-Man 2 (€69.99 vs. €79.99, a 12.5% gap) and WWE 2K25 (up to 17.6% variance)—but excludes the US and Japan.
While "experimental" prices are lower for test groups to gauge demand elasticity, control group users pay full price, sparking fury over perceived discrimination.
Gamers on X and Reddit blast it as "anti-consumer profiteering" and "illegal," with calls for regulation. Sony has not commented on the tests or plans to roll out permanent dynamic pricing.
