Bluepoint Games, the Sony-owned studio renowned for remaking Demon’s Souls and Shadow of the Colossus, pitched a Bloodborne remake to Sony Interactive Entertainment in early 2025 amid a search for new projects following project cancellations. According to a Bloomberg report by Jason Schreier, Sony found the numbers viable, but FromSoftware—the original developer—opposed the idea and effectively turned it down.
This rejection contributed to Bluepoint's struggles to secure work, leading to Sony's decision to shut down the studio in February 2026. Fans have long clamored for a modern Bloodborne update due to the 2015 original's technical limitations on PS4. Former PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida theorized that FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki's deep attachment to the game may explain the reluctance to let others remake it.
