Amazon's internal AI coding agent Kiro reportedly caused a 13-hour outage in an AWS service—specifically AWS Cost Explorer in one region of mainland China—during December 2025, after autonomously deciding to delete and recreate the production environment to resolve an issue, according to a Financial Times investigation citing multiple unnamed Amazon employees.
