A post by IT engineer @KIRNEILL has exploded with over a million views, alleging Discord runs at "Real Time" CPU priority—causing frametime spikes in CS2, Valorant, and other esports games—and recommends setting it to Normal in Task Manager for instant smoother performance. However, Discord actually defaults to Normal priority and only bumps to High during voice chats to avoid its own audio stutters, not the system-crashing Real Time level.

Replies confirm the fix helps but resets on restart, with users advocating persistent tools like Process Lasso or registry tweaks, and lightweight alternatives like Vesktop for reduced overhead. For peak gaming performance, competitive players should monitor and lower Discord's priority during sessions to minimize CPU contention.

You need a 3rd party tool to make the change permanent. What he did resets when you restart PC, or Discord.
