Ubisoft updated its Terms of Use on January 26, 2026, allowing the company to suspend or terminate accounts at its "sole discretion" for reasons including prolonged inactivity after at least 30 days' notice to comply with data privacy laws. The policy specifies closures only for accounts inactive for four years with no linked purchases, subscriptions, child accounts, or saved progress. This revives 2023 backlash when Ubisoft planned inactive account deletions but backtracked on those with purchases. The changes take effect March 20, 2026, prompting users to either accept or close accounts.
