Steam just beat another record with 27 million concurrent users - briefly

Valve’s platform has beat its concurrent all-time user record once again this year – with over 27 million users online at once as of the time of writing. Whether bolstered by major new releases such as Halo Infinite’s surprise early multiplayer launch or Battlefield 2042, or the start of a particularly exciting Autumn sale which saw Cyberpunk 2077 re-enter the top sellers’ list, Steam has now broken the 27 million concurrent user mark. Not only that, it’s still climbing, with the count going way over 27.1 million in the last few hours. This new all-time record was spotted by SteamDB who posted the accomplishment on Twitter. With the holidays coming and Valve’s new hardware the Steam Deck coming next year, it’s entirely possible this record could be beaten – Steam’s done it at least twice this year already, so it seems pretty likely.

Steam once again beats its online concurrent users record with over 27 million users currently online.

Fake news. Considering pretty much everyone that’s a gamer has at least a game from steam on their system ( hardly got an abundance of choices) and has to have it connected to either update it or read the forums about problems. Either way, there’s millions connected because it’s what happens automatically when you turn on a system. Not because your even doing anything on steam. I can even connect to steam on my phone (account) but I’m not doing anything other than reading replies etc.
How easily amused some people are about their millions of ‘friends’ :roll:

They did not say the 27M users were playing games. They were just "online". Nothing more, nothing less. Considering that there are over a billion users online at any given time, Steam's 27M is nothing. Not sure why they'd brag about it. I guess it's one of those "my tiny dick is bigger than your tiny dick" type of things.

Lots of people game outside of PCs: Android, Apple, PS, XBox, etc. Lots of people PC game outside of Steam: Origin, GoG, EGS, etc. Lots of people game on Steam offline and aren't counted among concurrent users.
