Wishing you a Happy New Year with the hope that you will have many blessings in the year to come.  FYI, I spent the whole evening&night pretty much in the bathroom (vomiting, diarrhoea). Awful just awful. Probably some fucking flu got me bad. I wouldn't wish this on anyone!
  • Intel Core i7-7700K gets overclocked beyond 7 GHz - Professional overclocker Allen "Splave" Golibersuch has managed to overclock a sample Intel "Kaby Lake" Core i7-7700K processor to beyond 7 GHz. However, it should be noted that the overclocker managed to achieve a stable 7 GHz+ overclock only by disabling HyperThreading as well as two of the four physical cores of the processor. The overclocker hasn't mentioned anything regarding the cooling in his blog post, so it isn't clear if he used dry ice or liquid nitrogen to overclock the Core i7-7700K. If you're curious, the 7022.96 MHz overclock was achieved on an ASRock Z170 OC Formula motherboard with a 69x multiplier and a base-clock of 101.78 MHz. Unsurprisingly, it took a high 2.00V Vcore voltage to achieve the high overclock. As for performance numbers, the processor finished PiFast in 9.02 seconds, SuperPi 32M in 4 minute 20.25 seconds, wPrime 32M in 2.953 seconds, and wPrime 1024M in 1 minute 33.171 seconds. The overclocked Core i7-7700K, combined with an ASUS GeForce GTX 1080 STRIX OC graphics card, managed a score of 643,316 points in Aquamark and 86,798 points in the 3DMark 05 graphics benchmark.

  • You Can Still Upgrade to Windows 10 for Free, Even After Offer Expired - Microsoft is continuing to offer free Windows 10 upgrades to those who use assistive technologies, such as a screen narrator or magnifier. Anyone running Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 qualifies for the offer, as Microsoft isn't really checking to see whether you are actually using these assistive tools. The upgrade process couldn’t be simpler. Just head to Microsoft's accessibility website, download the program that's listed on their upgrade page, and then install your free Windows 10 update.

  • Cyanogen to Shut Down Dec. 31 - Cyanogen said it plans to cease developing its open-source version of Android and will shutter its services by the end of the month. "As part of the ongoing consolidation of Cyanogen, all services and Cyanogen-supported nightly builds will be discontinued no later than [December 31]," said the company in a blog post. "The open source project and source code will remain available for anyone who wants to build CyanogenMod personally." Devices that run Cyanogen OS, including the OnePlus One, will no longer receive updates from Cyanogen. Cyanogen hoped to offer a better version of Android than Google's build, but it saw little traction in the market.
  • Samsung Releases Focus, a Combined Email and Calendar App - Samsung recently made a new productivity app called Samsung Focus available to its Android devices. Focus handles basic productivity functions, including email, calendar, contacts, tasks, and memos all in a single application. Focus supports Exchange, IMAP, and POP email services with functions such as push synchronization (email, contacts, calendar events) and support for multiple accounts. People will be able to use their Outlook, Gmail, Hotmail, Exchange, Office 365, IBM Notes, and other email services with Focus. Users can easily join conference calls and add tasks/events from emails, and take advantage of unified search across all the functions. Samsung Focus is free to download from the Google Play Store for Samsung smartphones running Android 6.0.1 and up.
  • Text message sends iOS' Messages into an endless crash loop - A recently discovered bug in Apple's iOS can crash and disable the Messages app on all iPhone models with a single text message - yes, another one. The new exploit was discovered by hacker vincedes3, and requires a special vCard attached to a message, which permanently crashes the Messages app when opened - restarting the app doesn't work nor does a hard reboot because Messages always tries to open the most recent text, sending the app into an inescapable crash loop.

  • Smart TVs aren't immune to ransomware - Security experts for years have been warning consumers that smart TVs are a prime target for hackers. Aside from the fact that sets with microphones and cameras can serve as excellent eavesdropping devices, we're now seeing connected TVs being hit with ransomware. As Bleeping Computer highlights, software engineer Darren Cauthon recently posted a photo on Twitter of a family member's LG smart TV (model 50GA6400) that had been bricked by Android malware. Based on the image, the publication believes the set was infected with a version of the Cyber.Police ransomware, sometimes referred to as FLocker, Frantic Locker or Dogspectus. The set in question is said to be one of the last models running Google TV before LG switched to webOS. Cauthon said he originally purchased the set for himself before passing it along to a family member. The hacker demanded $500 to unlock the set but Cauthon wasn't going to pay. Instead, he attempted to reset the TV to its factory condition but was unable to do so. He then reached out to LG for help. Rather than instruct him on how to perform the factory reset, LG told him to take the set to a local service center where he would be charged a whopping $340. At that price, it'd probably be cheaper to buy a new TV outright.
  • Singapore To Record Iris Scans Of Citizens - Starting January 1 next year, Singapore will begin including iris scans as part of the country's registration process for citizens and permanent residents. This was part of efforts to improve the "effectiveness and efficiency" of operations undertaken by the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA), the Ministry of Home Affairs said in a statement Wednesday.
  • APPLE CAMPUS 2 Christmas/New Years Update 4K - A little over a year ago, Campus 2 was nothing more than an outline in the dirt, but the newly shot video gives us a good look at the lay of the land and also provides important tidbits of information. Not only do we get a detailed look at Campus 2 that will house nearly 13,000 employees, but we also get to see the R&D facility and auditorium, where Apple will hold all future press conferences. What is probably most impressive is the sheer volume of solar panels that are being utilized for the project.

Hey man, don't know about where you are, but here there's been four prevalent illnesses this Festive season:
- Heavy Cold (Couple weeks feeling a bit shit: sneezing - may turn into several weeks of coughing)
- Winter Flu (3 days of can't get out of bed, fever, aching all over, few weeks of post-viral fatigue)
- D&V (3 days of jetting from both ends)
- Norovirus (1 day extreme vomiting, week feeling weak)

The colloquial Flu test is: "Imagine there's a £50 note on the floor a few metres away. If you feel like you could stand up, walk over there and pick it up then it's not flu."

Anyway, hope you're better soon and stay healthy this year!

Tom(06:29 PM EST - Jan,01 2017 )
Sorry to hear that Hx, hope you have a better and healthier new year!
