3DS 'bricked' after pirate activity
- console

The Nintendo 3DS was released just over a week ago in Japan, and already there are piracy and anti-piracy stories flying around. Japanese hackers managed to get the infamous R4 flash card working within hours of the launch, but it sounds as though Nintendo may have implemented measures to keep the hackers at bay. A report from
GoNintendo claims
that firmware updates may render the 3DS inoperable (aka 'bricked') if it detects fishy activity. The 3DS keeps a log of your activities, and can make a note whenever you use a flash card. If you then attempt to trade-in your 3DS at a retailer, the store can check whether or not you have used pirated software, and refuse the trade-in if it finds you have participated in piracy. A Nintendo spokesperson recently released
the following statement to Eurogamer
: "We do not discuss product security details (for obvious reasons), nor can we discuss the details of countermeasures available in the Nintendo 3DS system. "Nintendo 3DS has the most up-to-date technology. The security has been designed to protect both the creative works in the software and to protect the Nintendo 3DS hardware system itself."

tl:dr I stopped buying hardware that wants to dictate how I should choose to use it, pretty simple solution to avoid feeding these racketeering business beasts.
It's just fucking bullshit and only encouraging more stupid people/business society etc into accepting and doing the same thing etc. What next toasters designed to brick themselves should you try to circumvent the compliant nature of the device in only accepting superMonopolyMarts GMO infested bread as approved by your national mafia corpbankgov collective criminal elitist scum, any detected modification of the appliance or use of unknown illegalafied homemade bread making using nefarious ingredients unapproved by your local fascist dictatorship council, will have the drone policy enforcers tipped off to your location by your toasters GPS.
Perhaps a far out example, still lets hope for humanity that a future along this route of insanity ends soon. It's bad enough most printer manufactures have for over a decade now being getting away chipping cartridge ink dispenses.. shit like that out is out line, and fuck any retard who reviews a printer and gives it 5stars when its clearly a piece of junk making an extortionate amount on fucking ink. Stupid conned summer morons keep buying into and supporting it, instead of doing something about the problem that has businesses turning to these tactics.
Anyway if the games are good people will buy them and support the game developers... after Nintendo has taken a big cut, really they are just being greedy fascist cunts abusing technology along with the rest of these corporate morons throwing millions in protection security scams to fit their bottom line greed agenda. Probably wasted more money on the R&D and salaries for the morons who designed the security in the first place, than they will in preventing anyone from returning a 3DS that has broken but was also used to play copied games. I just wonder if someone taking their bricked 3DS but never modified and or played a copied game, tries to get it replaced under warranty but conveniently for Nintendo and game store, the testing equipment computer says 'no' and they are denied. LOL
