Advanced tessellation and lighting effects rendered in real-time by 3DMark 11's native DirectX 11 engine. Originally set for release in the third quarter of 2010, Futuremark is now saying 3DMark 11 will be released sometime later in 2010.

...and here we have another great example of how the retarded game consoles are hitting the brakes in game development! And they hit them hard!

tride(03:08 PM CEST - Oct,21 2010 )
Fuck consoles!
Jesus, if somebody makes this jungle, with that quality, into a game...... Crytek will bite the dust!
Awesome stuff... Thumbs up

Sabot(05:24 PM CEST - Oct,21 2010 )
Holly fuck! Talk about a PMT moment.....
DX11 is just another overated piece of shit to get you (PC idiots) to fork out several hundred bucks for a load of 'wooooooh, look at those shadows and light beams......' moments.
I've seen fucking enough stupid photo realistic environments, smoke, sparkling seas, sun halos etc,etc etc. from these supposed 'the next step in gaming' piss videos. Yet none of them have ONE fucking JOT of decent GAMEPLAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Idiots pour cash like an incontinent cow!
What exactly do you think your buying when you spend a small fortune on a DX11 graphics card? Does it guarantee you an unlimited supply of games-you-want-to-buy? Erm...nope
Oh look a coupon for the ONLY game optimised for your 'amazing' next-generation DX11 graphics card...WTF. One born every minute...

It's the same garbage that has ALWAYS existed. The evolution of graphics cards, in terms of game-play, is pathetic at best.
Your promised this, that and the next thing. When games are released it's the same old forum shit.
'They said we could blow craters in the ground', REAL AI -not scripted animation and so it goes on and on.....
What was it you spent hundreds on again..? Oh yes, to fund M$ and the whole of the companies pension blackhole. Certainly wasn't for what WAS promised on the box of that graphics card...until 6 months time when it all starts again with the NEXT generation graphics card ](*,)

Stumpus, in order to gain a correct perspective of how much games on the PC have evolved, bring in the front the following

Call of Duty 1 -> Modern Warfare 2
Need for Speed 1 -> Need for Speed Shift
Far Cry -> Crysis
Aliens vs Predator 1 -> Aliens vs Predator 2010
Total Annihilation -> Supreme Commander 2
Starcraft -> Starcraft II

See how stupid you are when you are a naysayer all the time?

tride(10:07 PM CEST - Oct,21 2010 )
Stumpus, are you stupid or something ?
WTF is the problem if technology continues to progress ?
The reason we dont see games with that kind of graphics is the fuckin consoles! They hold back all this!
The technology is available and it is up to the developers to make the games! But it just cost tooo much to make one game for all platforms so they try to keep it all the same on everyfuckin platform!

But there is no reason that people should stop making bether VGA or engines or software or whatever... just because you are stuck with you console stuff...

Whoever is right, both are.
If you look at it technology wise, sure we're heading the right direction.
If you look at reality, and see trends over the years, those having the age to be able to say the truth, there are no more games that offer the same joy as say Monkey Island, Pong, Super Mario (kart), you name them, these games offered fun, addictive fun, stress relief, while nowadays all we know is shooting fests, graphic comparisons, boring scripted """action""", bugs ad infinitum, agression fests, stress, and after a good 5 hours THE END.

tride(06:47 PM CEST - Oct,22 2010 )
Back then in the early years of game dev., we the gamers didnt know anything else... it was first gaming experience...
Now, today we have seen it all, experienced it all and the "surprise" element is long gone. The innovation element is long gone.
Nothing new in strategy genre, FPS genre, MMO genre etc...
Thats why, maybe, the only progress we see is in the visual quality...
So, i am too nostalgic about the good ol' games but... they are not coming back!
But again, that doenst mean that people should stop pushing the hardware limits!

My hopes and prays are for Thief 4 and Deus Ex...
The devs of Thief sayd that they wont dumb it down and gonna make it as hardcore as possible, like the good old days!

Fuck all to do with consoles; it's about COSTS!
One console SDK is the same as ONE digital download on STEAM. Both are from different platforms but result in the same outcome.
One SDK covers every console sold on that platform. STEAM distributes to every PC owner but only ONE copy is ever needed. Where the PC falls on it's tits is the amount of patches released for the 10,000 or so game buyers with different hardware configs -which equals money that could be spent on game developement etc.
Try to put your brain into gear before your mout -yeah i know it's hard, but it sure does help.
The sales of Win7 are way,way down from predicted forecasts, XP is STILL the OS of choice in offices etc. Now unless there is a SPECIAL OS for PC GAMERS, then they aint exactly embracing the 'gamers OS'. Not my opinion but business fact. The true fact is there is NO dedicated OS for games. You buy the same shit OS that someone does their shopping with or spends all week on facebook with etc, etc. Whereas the console OS is a dedicated gamers OS.

@psolord, your analogy is no different from compairing game evolvement with Halo on XBox1 to Halo on XBox360.
Or Metal Gear Solid on PS1 to MGS4 on PS3.
