TechNews - Windows 10 will release in Q4/15 - tech
(hx) 05:07 PM CET - Dec,06 2014 - Post a comment / read (2)
  • XFX Radeon R9 285 Black Edition Review: Maximum Overdrive - XFX's Black Edition card is undeniably one of the best Radeon R9 285s available. It sports the highest factory overclock on the market, along with one of the most capable coolers mounted on a Tonga GPU. Its simple and understated design isn't flXashy, but its unassuming size makes for an uncomplicated installation. Additionally, the card is quite willing to overclock (up +20% performance).
  • Philips 288P6LJEB 28-Inch Ultra HD Monitor Tested - It is inevitable that we'll have 4K IPS screens at this price point eventually. It's hard to say when that will happen. For now, though, the Philips 288P6LJEB and its brethren represent the best value in Ultra HD displays. If gaming is not part of your daily routine, any of these monitors will suffice. Entertainment buffs will want to stick to either the Asus or Planar displays. Philips' and Dell's screens simply have too much input lag to make them viable for high-speed play. For all other uses, we have no problem recommending the 288P6LJEB.
  • The Crew Benchmarked: Graphics & CPU Performance - You'll need a powerful GPU to maintain 60fps at 1080p in The Crew -- ideally a GeForce GTX 780 or Radeon R9 290 given that anything faster is overkill with the frame rate cap. Cards such as the HD 7970 (R9 280X) and GTX 770 are more than capable of delivering perfectly smooth gameplay and there are many GPUs that will offer 40fps, such as the R9 270X and GTX 760. For a console-like 30fps you'll only need a lowly GTX 750 Ti or HD 7850, though realize that you'll recieve considerably better image quality with the ultra settings in place and 4xMSAA.
  • Microsoft's reiterates Windows 10 will release in late summer - Microsoft said at the Windows 10 launch event that the company would be releasing the updated operating system in the summer of 2015 or a bit later.
  • Sony Hack Exposed Budgets, Layoffs, Scripts, And 3,800 SS Numbers - I guess the Sony Pictures hack was way bigger than first thought. In addition to the leaked movies, scripts, budgets and almost four thousand social security numbers were compromised.
  • Google Introduces "No CAPTCHA reCAPTCHA" - What do you guys think of this?
  • What Happens When You Click A Link? - What happens when you click on a link? Dr Richard Mortier explains the mechanics of connecting you with your favourite website.
  • Worst Product Ever Made: Ring by Logbar - What started as a near million dollar Kickstarter, was transformed into one of the most disastrous product launches of all time. Not only did Logbar release a terribly unattractive and poorly designed piece of hardware, but the software puts a nail in the coffin. For the outrageous $269 price tag, Logbar won't be around long. HAH! :)
  • Where's the Money in Free Software? - Free as in freedom, not free as in cost, but part of the deal is that the software code is released, so if there's always the ability to get the source code, where's the money in free software?
  • Sprint to Woo AT&T and Verizon Customers with Halved Rates  - Sprint plans to go after AT&T and Verizon customers with an aggressive and enticing campaign. Beginning Friday, Sprint will offer rate plans to AT&T and Verizon customers that are half what they're already paying. For example, an AT&T customer who pays $300 per month will be offered a comparable Sprint plan that costs only $150 per month. The offer only extends to the service costs, including minutes, messaging, and data. It does not include subsidies for device payments. Sprint will waive activation fees and pay up to $350 to cover the ETFs of those who switch, though the new customers will need to turn in their old devices. In order to score the half-price plan, new Sprint customers will need to buy a device from Sprint at full retail price or finance it through Sprint Easy Pay. They'll also have to provide a copy of their most recent wireless bill for verification of the monthly cost. Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure hinted via Twitter that the company intends to "launch one of our most exciting promotions ever, especially designed for Verizon and att customers who love to save money." The promotion does not apply to T-Mobile or current Sprint customers.
  • World's Simplest Electric Train - A battery, magnets and some copper wire is all you really need for reliable transportation. Take that, buses.
  • If it's stupid and it works, it ain't stupid - This isn't any different than using a cell phone camera to take pictures of a lunar eclipse/Saturn through a telescope. Definitely not stupid.
  • Rendering Volumetric Haptic Shapes in Mid-Air using Ultrasound - This approach applies the principles of acoustic radiation force, whereby the non-linear effects of sound produce forces on the skin which are strong enough to generate tactile sensations. This mid-air haptic feedback eliminates the need for any attachment of actuators or contact with physical devices. The user perceives a discernible haptic shape when the corresponding acoustic interference pattern is generated above a precisely controlled two-dimensional phased array of ultrasound transducers.
  • Test-Driving The Freaks And Geeks Video Game With S.Rogen & J.Franco - Seth Rogen and James Franco, stars of the single-season cult-hit "Freaks and Geeks," play an interactive video game based on the beloved series.
  • SHAUN THE SHEEP Trailer (2015) - From the creators of CHICKEN RUN and Wallance & Gromit ! Check it out!
  • STRANGE MAGIC Trailer (George Lucas - Gary Rydstrom - 2015) - No, George didn't direct this. Or write it. But the plot is based on a story he wrote, which itself is based on 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'. Expectations are decidedly low.
  • Brilliant zombie short film, amazing what you can portray in 7 mins - Stranded in the midst of a zombie apocalypse, a man sets in motion an unlikely plan to protect his precious daughter.
  • Vice - Trailer - Lionsgate revealed the trailer for Vice, an upcoming American action adventure sci-fi film directed by Brian A Miller, written by Andre Fabrizio & Jeremy Passmore. It stars Thomas Jane, Bruce Willis, Ambyr Childers, Johnathon Schaech, Bryan Greenberg, Charlotte Kirk, Tyler J. Olson. Vice is set for a January 16, 2014 release.
  • Star Wars: Episode VII Trailer - George Lucas' Special Edition  - Lucas can't resist meddling ;-)
  • Exodus: Gods and Kings - TV Spots - The defiant leader Moses rises up against the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses, setting 600,000 slaves on a monumental journey of escape from Egypt and its terrifying cycle of deadly plagues.
  • Guardians of the Galaxy REMIX - Your favorite summer blockbuster, filtered in ways both catchy and spastic.
  • Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer Shot for Shot Remake - A shot for shot recreation of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer, but only using footage from the original series: a New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi.
  • [!] Terminator Genisys Movie - Official Trailer - He's back! Again!! :D
  • Megadeth: A 160 Song Chronology in One Take - With 4 to 6 seconds dedicated to each tasty lick, Megadeth's whole career is compressed into one 19-minute hand-aching opus.
  • iPad Drum Solo - The Sickest Drummer In Metal Right Now - In this video, those fingers belong to an actual drummer. He's living somewhere without the proper amount of space for a full drumkit, so like any artist worth his salt, he improvised.
  • Cutest Time-lapse Of The Year Goes To This Puppy Growing Up - Is there anything that more precious than watching a puppy grow up? No. And that's final.
  • New Marijuana Study Confirms Everyone Knows You're High - The nation's top researchers concluded that you can't hide how stoned you are and that you should be freaking out if you aren't already.

Shot at the atelier of the painter Ercole Pignatelli, symbol of Italian art, history and culture, Emily represents the concept of the Italian spirit, which is embraced from Yamamay as a whole.
