  • Linus Torvalds on NVIDIA's non-Linux Optimus support: "F*** you" -  How does Linux creator Linus Torvalds feel about NVIDIA? He's not shy about giving his opinion about the graphics chip maker, who has so far not released any official Optimus support for the Linux platform. In a recently posted video on YouTube, Torvalds talks to a group of students in at Aalto University in Finland. Responding to a student's question about trying to get Linux running on her Optimus laptop with a NVIDIA-based graphics chip, Torvalds turns directly to the camera and says, "NVIDIA, F*** you", while also giving the camera a well known gesture with his middle finger.
  • US-CERT Discloses Security Flaw in Intel Chips - According to The U.S. Computer Emergency Readiness Team, a flaw has been discovered in Intel chips that would allow hackers to execute malicious code on a variety of 64-bit operating systems. The flaw is limited to chips using SYSRET instruction. Intel has made no comment on the disclosure.
  • Chinese Unreal Engine 3 DirectX 11 Benchmark - Just a heads up, you can finally download that DX11 benchmark from the Chinese game Passion Leads Army from Giant IronHorse. The game is powered by Unreal Engine 3 so you've pretty much seen it all in terms of tech but, for those of you that really like benchmarks, you can download it and give it a spin
  • THE MARMALADE Identity: Behind the scenes - The Marmalade, a special effects studio in Germany, has created an incredible high speed robot used to film precise moments during ultra high frame rate takes. The results look so perfect it looks like CGI!!
  • Microsoft officially unveils Windows 8 RT tablet, the Surface - The Microsoft Surface tablet features a 10.6-inch screen, a 9.3 mm body, one standard-size USB port, a Gorilla Glass 2.0 screen, 1080p graphics, and a 'Touch Cover' that acts as a full multi-touch keyboard and trackpad as well. The new Surface tablet also has a built in kickstand that makes it great for watching movies or using to show off photos or maybe a presentation. The Surface also uses dual antennas and will have an Intel-based variant running Windows 8 and an RT version that uses an Nvidia ARM Processor.I
  • IE crashes at Microsoft Surface presentation - No wonder web developers and even companies hate IE. I have nothing against Microsoft, Windows 7 is a brilliant OS, but they need to give up hopes on IE and design a browser from scratch. Here you can see a rather embarrassed presenter from Redmond showing off Internet Explorer on the Surface tablet when it freezes on him. How do you do a Ctrl + Alt + Del on a tablet?
  • Apple greets Microsoft Surface with new iPad TV ad - Apple has released a new TV commercial for the new iPad coincidentally on the day of launch of the Microsoft Surface tablet. The new iPad Ad highlights the versatility of things you can do on an iPad.
  • Samsung Galaxy S3 review - The Samsung Galaxy S III carries a lot of weight on its shoulders, and, fortunately, it is up to the task. The Galaxy S III's solid spec sheet combined with the useful software features that Samsung has added to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich make the GS3 a good choice for many smartphone shoppers. Some Pros vs Cons can be found here,
  • iPhone-Powered SmartPet Robot Dog Wins Tokyo Toy Show - Unlike real dogs, the SmartPet can be used to play music too. Look for SmartPet to hit Japanese retailers later this month for 7,800 JPY (about US$100).
  • Gigapixel Camera Sees Far More Than Meets the Eye - What's that in your fancy, expensive digital SLR camera: 40 megapixels? Yawn.
  • Now Verizon FiOS Quantum service offers a revolution in speed - The entry-level 15/5 Mbps speeds will still be available along with 50/25, 75/35, 150/65 and that top level 300/65 Mbps. The highest three tiers offer speeds of double Verizon’s previous plans. FiOS Quantum service can be either standalone or supplied with Verizon’s double and triple-pay bundles according to Mashable. Only the top level 300/65 Mbps tier will just be available as a standalone product and this will set users back a hefty $209.99 month-by-month or $204.99 with a two-year contract.
  • New Google Play Commercials Show Off Google Services In Unique Way - The 'Scientist' in the first commercial video demonstrates how movie streaming works in Google Play using a bannana, yes really. It might sound odd, but the commercial is very straightforward and easy to understand.
  • Engineer Sends Robotic Bees To The Rescue - Robert Wood, founder of the Harvard Microbiotics Lab, develops robots inspired by nature. He heads a team of more than 40 researchers working to develop coordinated colonies of robotic bees. In a few years our cameras will have so many gigapixels we'll be able to record the future with it.

Dunno as Samsung for example likes to put crappy cams on the phones except for the overpriced models like the s2 that are 400-550 bucks. Those are still only 5mp as well which is meh. I think it's moving along slower now than it was just a few years ago. Bought a new Panny camera that takes great pictures has tons of optical zoom does great video all for around a hundred dollars. Think it's 10 or 12mp. That's twice what many phones have these days even the 500 dollar ones.
