Apple Announces iPhone 4S - tech

Apple today revealed details about the next-generation iPhone, which is called the iPhone 4S. The design of the device is similar to the iPhone 4, but Apple claims that the inside is all new. It will run on Apple's A5 dual-core 1GHz processor, and will include dual-core graphics performance, which Apple says is seven times faster than the previous iPhone. The iPhone 4S comes in black and white. It will cost $199 for 16GB, $299 for 32GB, and $399 for 64GB. The iPhone 4 8GB will be available in black and white for $99. The iPhone 3GS 8GB will be available for free. Pre-orders start on October 7, and the device will be available October 14. It will be available from AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon Wireless. - iPhone 4S. - Eight megapixels...3264x2448. Backside illuminated sensor...73% more light per pixel than iPhone 4. 33% faster capture. Hybrid IR filter, better color accuracy and uniformity. Five element lens, 30% more sharpness, f/2.4 aperture. Face detection, better white balance, and fast photos.
- Time to first photo: 1.1 seconds. Half a second for next shot.
- Schiller demoing photos taken with iPhone 4S. 1080p HD video recording, video image stabilization, noise reduction. Wrapping up camera discussion.
- AirPlay mirroring. Gaming on the TV screen...wired or wireless.
- iPhone 4S pricing: $199 16 GB, $299 32 GB, $399, 64 GB, with contract. Black and white versions available.
- 8 GB iPhone 4 at $99, 8 GB iPhone 3GS free.

pfft Data speed twice as fast...14.4 Mbps HSDPA. It's what competitors call 4G. 4G is LTE or WiMAX and have theoretical speeds up to 100 Mbps. (I'm working at a european mobile operator and we're seeing practical speeds without overhead of around 75-80 Mbps. American operators just relabeled 3G hsdpa to 4G to "keep up" - it's pathetic
