(hx) 04:43 PM EDT - Aug,26 2011 - Post a comment / read (2)
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is headed to PC, Mac, Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network in the first quarter of 2012. It'll initially launch with seven maps, tweaked versions five classic 'de_' bombing maps and two 'cs_' hostage scenarios. A PC beta is slated to begin in October.

In an hour long preview at Valve's offices Kotaku has learned of some details regarding the new Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, starting with the surprise that the PS3 version will support a mouse and keyboard.
- Maps have received a graphical overhaul but are "largely" intact
- The game will ship with Dust, Dust2, Aztec, Nuke, Inferno, Italy and Office
- There's a "Casual Mode" with unlimited money, alltalk, and full spectating
- There is still "Competitive" mode, with a promise to "raise the skill ceiling"
- Valve will be hosting stock servers featuring ELO or friendlist based matchmaking
- The 360 will be stuck with a gamepad for now
- They are "striving" for Cross-platform matchmaking
- Random spawnpoints are binned for now
- New weapons: Decoy Grenade, Molotov, Negev, Tec-9, Mag-7, Sawed Off, Bizon, and a humiliation Tazer

Coming to Xbox live arcade kinda says it all about this, personally I'd buy it if it were coming with say a half life3/ep3.. however on its own, when all they've done is take original maps/models update textures and added some more detail etc (except the player hand/weapon on models - look bad) its hardly worth it, my days of cs gaming are over... more inclined to get bf3.

And Counter strike 2 would be CS:Source, this is more like CSS 2.6... the reporter should have said its not Counter Strike 3 (that would require valve to overhaul its source engine)

He did say it was not a new CS. He said just that, it's a dressed up better looking game with a few tweaks in the gui and weapons. I think it looks great. CS is still one of the most popular games on the PC whether you like it or not. I just hope they don't price it stupid. $14.99 or $9.99 would be a great price imho. HL3, EP3, LOL! ffs c'mon.
