TechNews - Intel upgrades SSD warranty to 5 years - tech
(hx) 07:33 PM CEST - May,22 2011 - Post a comment / read (5)
  • Intel upgrades 320 Series SSD warranty to five years - Intel announced that it would extend the limited warranty for its 320 Series solid-state drives from three years to five. The company said it is 'confident in the enhanced reliability features' of its third-generation SSDs and the updated policy applies to all 320 Series drives, including those that have already been purchased by consumers.
  • Zotac Geforce GTX 550 TI Tested - Despite being outperformed by both Radeon 6790 and 6850 - the Geforce GTX 550 TI AMP! proved to be very good graphics card. With the price-tag of 140 euros it provides nice price/performance ratio with very reasonable noise levels. Unlike most radeons these days the GTX 550TI is very short card and will most likely fit in most HTPC cases too.
  • Z68 Express Roundup: Three Motherboards Do Battle Around $200 - So who wins? The P8Z68-V Pro has the best overall performance, but the difference between it and the Z68 Extreme4 is less than 1%. The average difference is too small to show up on the chart, and ASRock had better efficiency. For $10 less, ASRock adds a PCIe bridge to its Z68 Extreme4. Anyone who really wants a x4 slot should view this as mandatory.
  • Samsung Series 9 900X3A-A01CA Laptop Reviewed - The body is constructed of an aircraft grade aluminum called 'duralumin' which is twice the strength of aluminum and very light. In fact, fully loaded, this laptop tops out at 2.88lbs which makes it lighter than the Mac Air. The Series 9 even holds a lower center of gravity as its highest point is 0.62" compared to the Airs 0.68" frame.
  • World's First 8K Ultra High Definition Display - An 85inch LCD capable of 16x the resolution of a 1080P HDTV? Whoa, I seriously want one of these!!
  • Microsoft Office 2010 SP1 coming this June - Microsoft announced that the first service pack (SP1) for Office 2010 and SharePoint 2010 will be released at the end of June. The update will bring many enhancements as well as bug fixes.
  • Why You Should Turn Off WiFi Auto-Connect On Your Android Phone - It turns out that almost all the Android phones and tablets out there are vulnerable to a very easy attack
  • Hackers offer workaround to use Netflix on other Android phones - Netflix recently released an Android app for smartphones. Unfortunately, the company limited the app to just five phones: the HTC Incredible with Android 2.2, the HTC Nexus One with Android 2.2 or Android 2.3, the HTC Evo 4G with Android 2.2, the HTC G2 with Android 2.2, and the Samsung Nexus S with Android 2.3. Hackers have circumvented this restriction by making the app think you are using one of the supported devices. There some unsupported devices which seem to work fine with the app, but others have serious problems, including crashes or no video/sound. A detailed guide has been posted on Reddit for those who want to give this a try (your Android device needs to be rooted) at their own risk, of course.
  • Nintendo 3DS to Stream Netflix, Use Classic Games - Nintendo's release of its much hyped 3DS may actually live up to all of the hype this summer. An upcoming update will push the 3DS into another realm of entertainment with streaming Netflix, a whole new crop of classic games playable on a virtual console and much more.
  • Vinci Tablet for Toddlers - It's made of non-toxic materials-including a rubberized grip that's great for teething. And the display is made from tempered glass so it won't break under rough handling. The other piece of the Vinci Tab is the software that comes preloaded. There are interactive story books, music videos and locations to explore, like a park, the zoo or a room. All are meant to provide an educational experience. You can see a demo in the video.
  • Theatrical Trailer for Kevin James' Comedy Zookeeper - Sony Pictures is bringing Zookeeper to theaters in the thick of the summer on July 8th.
  • Explosive New 'Transformers: Dark of the Moon' Trailer - In this movie, the Autobots and Decepticons become involved in a perilous space race between the U.S. and Russia, and once again human Sam Witwicky must help his robot friends defeat enemies like Shockwave.
  • One More Fantastic Theatrical Trailer for 'Green Lantern' - A test pilot (Ryan Reynolds) is granted a mystical green ring that bestows him with otherworldly powers, as well as membership into an intergalactic squadron tasked with keeping the peace within the universe.
  • Working Super 8 Projector is made from Lego - A fully functional Super 8 Movie Projector built using Lego Technic.
  • How to get the baby phone toy to curse (video) - Check it out!

Um....what is up with the Jailbreak 3.61 link? I'm pretty sure there's no way to jailbreak 3.61 yet. It looks like this is some scam to get people to complete surveys/signup for crap?

That "Jailbreak PS3 3.61 For Free" video looks more like a "click away spam and other porn popups ad infinitum" to me....

FYI, anything related to modding the ps3 that's legitimate will most likely be posted on the gbatemp forums.
