- Intel Core i7-990X Extreme: Crazy Fast Got Faster
- Intel
recently launched a speed bump of their flagship Extreme Edition Core
i7 processor, known as the Core i7 990X. It's unlocked and clocked at
3.45GHz stock speed with a Turbo Boost top-end speed of 3.73GHz. Intel
claims its the fastest desktop chip on the planet; like geek tiger
blood for your PC. The
new Core i7-990X is also based on the 32nm Gulftown core and the
performance metrics show it's easily the fastest 6-core chip
for the desktop currently but of course it'll cost you as well.
- GeForce GTX 550 Ti performance numbers leaked -
VR-Zone posted some performance numbers
obtained from an anonymous reader. The numbers suggest this card might
fall short of being a compelling GeForce GTX 460 successor.
It appears
that the new card isn't as fast as expected, with a performance gain of
about 25% over AMD's offering in just certain games. Things look pretty
ugly in 3DMark 11 though. Overclockability-wise, the GeForce
GTX 550
Ti will continue the legacy of the GeForce GTS 450 by offering
excellent headroom. Clock speeds in excess of 1050MHz are said to be
attainable and that will send the 3DMark 11 score past P3000 on a
well-overclocked 'Sandy Bridge' system.
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 590 To Roll Out On March 22nd -

memory,dual-8pin external power connectors and has TDP of 375W.
Coincidently,March 22nd is also the release day of Crysis 2.
- Chrome 10 debuts with new settings interface - Google
has served up a few notable improvements in this release:
quicker JavaScript performance (the firm quotes a 66% jump in its V8
benchmark), a new settings control panel with a search function, and
the ability to synchronize passwords across multiple computers.
- Doom gets ported to a calculator! -
Doom, one of the classic first person shooters, has been
ported to a calculator.
While many may remember playing drugwars on their TI-83+, kids today
can now play Doom on their TI-Nspire calculator. The port which was
completed by the omnimaga.org community shows the true power of the
current generation of calculators that can be used in the classroom.
Doom was first released in 1993 and is considered to be an all time
classic for the FPS genre. The port is not perfect as it currently does
not have a menu or the ability to select a difficulty, but other than
that, the visuals are a near 100% match to the original version.

looks like ads are coming to Skype but, from
what I can tell from the FAQ, the majority of the people that will see

- Anonymous: The secret group's 5 biggest hacks - Anonymous,
the shadowy group of hackers that grew out of an anarchic message board
on the website 4Chan, has made headlines quite a bit in recent months.
The loosely organized group of "hacktivists," which typically aligns
itself with liberal causes, has brought down the websites of Visa,
PayPal, and the Westboro Baptist Church. Here are their five biggest targets... so far.

- Fetus-Like Mobile Phone Is Creepy As Hell (video)
- A professor at Osaka University came up with
a creepy human-shaped phone that tickles you when it rings.
The phone looks like a cross between Casper the friendly ghost and the
freaky mutant things in Silent Hill: More details can be found here.
- Pagani Huayra, an ancient deity in detail (video)
- The Pagani Huayra has finally shown its face
in motion, carving up some beautiful European countryside to
an ethereal soundtrack. This video is as pretentious as it is
beautifully shot, which, for a car like the Huayra, may be exactly the
right treatment... though perhaps a bit heavy handed in the imagined
mythology.
