Bad Company 2 has some exemplary physics effects without fucking the performance up with hardware deccelarated PissX. So piss off baldy. Grow some hair and some balls next time Nvidia tells you to bend.

you do realize that BC2 barely has any physics effects in the game other than the particles and some chairs, light poles, trees and vehicles. But even those are limited. i mean try shooting to splinter a tree with a .50cal, it doesnt splinter, the whole thing just falls and becomes a physics based object until it magically disappears.

Everything else from the fences breaking to the houses collapsing are all scripted predetermined objects. why do you think that the same building always falls and breaks the same exact way with the same bits and pieces sticking out of it.

As long as it keeps the framerate high, I am fine with scripted physics man. I am not goint to do a study to see how a tree or a building falls.

Crysis had some great physics as well. No PhysX!

The cpu is perfectly fine for physics as long as you don't want to simulate steam for example, which is not needed for a game anyway.

By using PhysX we were able to receive mucho $$$ and ensure it does not work on 50% of the graphics market. It's really impressive!

ffs, use something standard that works everywhere.. This is assuming PhysX doesn't just switch off when there's no nV GPU, ala Batman: Retarded Asylum.

BC2 would have better physics with physx no doubt. It also would never have been as popular as it is if they did that.

I have heard there is a hack to make physx run on ATI hardware, is this true? If so, how much screwing around does it take and is it reliable?

There is a hack that enables PhysX ONLY if you have an ATI card to do the rendering AND a Nvidia one to do the PhysX. This used to work fine some time ago, but Nvidia decided to disable physx support if you don't have an Nvidia card for the rendering as well.

This is how much these guys suck ass.

If one team can't have all the fun then no-one should?

Yeah it really stinks that we have to suffer these issues because of politics and anti-competitive behaviour. The world would be a better place if there was unification in physx.

Indestructible doors have always perplexed me in the past, not anymore ! This is going to be a real gem and if the storyline is anything like the original we can expect great value for money in longevity.

Hey I've found a new workaround that works with all the latest drivers if anyone is interested:

ATI Rendering + Nvidia physx hybrid
