  • AMD vs. Intel CPUs for Around 60 Euro (90 USD) - AMD Athlon II X3 435 offers most bang for buck! When it comes to gaming, the situation is pretty much in balance among all tested CPUs. Archiving, rendering and video compression are similar among dual core CPUs, but since these applications can put to good use more cores, X3 comes as clear winner.
  • Intel Core i7-975 Extreme Edition Processor Tested - If you absolutely must have the fastest quad-core system possible, then the Intel Core i7 processor is the way to go. These are really fast processors, especially for media encoding and professional 3D rendering. The choice of whether to go with the Core i7-975 Extreme Edition or a lower-end Core i7 processor is something you will have to decide, based on your needs and budget.
  • Leaked Intel Core i7-980X EE Processor Info - PCOnline has posted a leaked Intel slide which they claim has information on the Intel Core i7-980X Extreme Edition processor. The slide says the 32nm LGA 1366 processor will have a 3.33GHz clock speed, 12MB of cache, Hyper-Threading, Turbo Boost, an integrated memory controller and a partridge in a pear tree
  • Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool - Microsoft has rereleased the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool under the GNU General Public License v2.
  • Intel releases Turbo Boost monitoring gadget - Intel has released a gadget for Windows 7 and Windows Vista that lets users monitor the current fastest core clock speed of their Nehalem processor. As you'd expect, the Turbo Boost Technology Monitor will show up in the sidebar if you're running Vista and on the desktop with Windows 7. Unfortunately, the tool seems to have no way of showing individual clock speeds for different cores - it just displays a single number corresponding to the fastest current core.
  • Microsoft China steals code, rips off Plurk site - Plurk, a popular social networking site in Asia, claims that Microsoft China has ripped off their service by "blatant theft of code, design, and UI elements".
  • Microsoft planning to release Windows 7 Touch Pack download - Microsoft announced the Windows 7 Touch Pack back in May but originally it was meant for OEMs only. Today the company confirmed that it will be offering the Touch Pack for download soon. The official Touch Pack site states 'the Touch Pack comes preinstalled on some multitouch PCs running Windows 7, and will soon be available for download.'
  • ODROID : Speed Forge 3D Demo through HDTV (video) - ODROID is based on a Samsung-manufactured application processor called S5PC100 833MHz. The system-on-chip(SoC) uses the latest ARM's Cortex-A8 with NEON multimedia accelerator. The chip's 3D OpenGl ES capability enables high speed 3D games such as Speed Forge 3D. ODROID is connected to 42" HDTV through standard Mini HDMI cable. Speed Forge 3D is published by RAT SQUARE(www.ratsquare.pl).

  • Windows Mobile 7 late next year - Microsoft UK head of mobility Phil Moore confirmed that we won't see Windows Mobile 7 phones on the market until late 2010.
