TechNews - Nvidia to drop GTX260 price - tech
(hx) 01:44 AM CET - Mar,11 2009 - Post a comment / read (1)
  • GeForce GTX 260 or RADEON HD 4870 1024MB - The overhauled GeForce GTX 260 outperforms its rivals noticeably (given the prices are similar). There are some exceptions, of course. Perhaps, performance ratings may change with the release of new drivers. But on the whole we admit that NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 is the best choice for the 300-dollar budget.
  • AMD Radeon HD 4870 to receive another round of price cut - AMD is going to have another round of price cut on its Radeon HD 4870 1GB card from US$199 to US$179.
  • Nvidia to drop GTX260 price - Nvidia's Geforce GTX 260 is going to be $30 cheaper at retail pretty soon, down to $199
  • AMD, Seagate Demonstrate 6-Gbit/s SATA interface - Currently, SATA uses a 3.0-Gbit/s interface, which should satisfy the throughput requirements of hard drives until 2011, when that channel will become saturated and the 6.0-Gbit/s interface will truly be needed. But the SATA-IO Working Group and the industry has traditionally built in enough overhead into the interface to allow the industry time to prepare
  • Samsung Launches 1.5 Terabyte 'EcoGreen' F2EG Hard Disk Drive - Samsung has developed a 1.5 TB three platter hard disk drive (500 GB per platter) which consumes 40% less power at idle, and 45% less power when reading/writing than other comparable drives
  • SuperTalent Luxio 64GB AES-256 Encrypted USB Drive Tested - Supertalent's 64GB Luxio USB drive retails for about $140USD ($150CDN) (model STP64GLXWU) , about par for a similar capacity USB drive. As a USB drive alone, it's fine. It's implementation of data security in the form of AES-256 encryption is is extremely buggy, unreliable and at worst completely circumventable and pointless.
  • New Asus Fold/Unfold Notebook Features Sliding Keyboard (video) - As you can see through the video, the keyboard actually slides when you open the lid. With this unique sliding mechanism, the Asus Fold/Unfold notebook provides extra space for a larger trackpad and the keyboard is held at the more ergonomic angle. There is usually some wasted space between the keyboard and the screen; the Fold/Unfold fills that gap.
  • Dell's Adamo teased by robots with lasers (video) - Wow that does look sexy!
  • What To Do With 24 256GB Samsung SSDs? (video) - It's really impressive to see some of the stuff that can be done with 24 Samsung SSDs in your system :-)
  • Microsoft's Windows 7 May Not Cure Netbook Headache - Microsoft is planning to offer several editions of Windows 7 for netbooks, scaled-down laptops that cost less than $500. If the wee things are running Windows at all it's usually XP, an issue that the company thinks Windows 7 Starter will address, acting as the low-cost intro Vista never was. With Starter's ability to run only three applications simultaneously, MS believes users will get quickly frustrated and then pony up extra cash to move to Home Basic or Home Premium. Will it work?
  • Robotic fish can swim and looks very realistic (video) - Take a look at the video, does it ever strike to you that the fish swimming has actually a battery and motors instead of a heart and gills. The sea bream robot as it is called has been developed by the Yamamoto laboratry in Japan. The movement of fins is based on the elastic oscillation wing system which makes the movement looks very realistic
  • Blood: The Last Vampire Trailer - Blood: The Last Vampire is directed by French filmmaker Chris Nahon, of Kiss of the Dragon and Empire of the Wolves previously. The adaptation was written by Chris Chow and the screenplay was written by Kenji Kamiyama and Ronny Yu. Blood: The Last Vampire was originally an anime first released in 2000. Universal is distributing this in the US, although they have not announced a release date just yet.
  • Jackie Chan in Shinjuku Incident Trailer - In essence, it's Jackie Chan vs the Yakuza, which once you see this trailer, you'll understand how badass that is! Shinjuku Incident will debut in China in April and Japan in May, but it doesn't have an official US distributor yet.
  • Britney Spears last night: 'My pu**y is hanging out' watch :P - Britney Spears took her Circus tour to Tampa, Florida this Sunday night and gave the crowd more than what they actually paid for: an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction and a good laugh.
  • Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen - HQ Photoshoot Celebrity Pictures - Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Fuller Olsen (born June 13, 1986) are American actresses, best known for playing the role of Michelle Tanner on the sitcom Full House.
