TechNews-SupCommander QuadCore performance - tech

  • Supreme Commander Quad-Core Performance - If you want the best gaming experience possible, an Intel Core 2 Quad quad-core processor will provide it. However, if you have dual-core, an acceptable gaming experience can still be achieved. With dual-core it would be more advantageous to stick with Windows XP for now since it provides faster performance
  • S.T.A.L.K.E.R. performance enhancements/SLI coming for GeForce 8 users - FiringSquad reports that NVIDIA is hard at work on developing a new ForceWare driver for GeForce 8800 users that will bring performance enhancements as well as SLI support for S.T.A.L.K.E.R
  • GeForce 8800 Ultra In May; G84 & G86 Firmed For April Launch - NVIDIA is pretty confident that GeForce 8800 Ultra can beat Radeon X2900 XTX. Well, we we will see how much performance can ATi engineers tweak out of the R600 launch drivers.
  • SAMSUNG Introduces 64GB 1.8inch Solid State Drive - Expect this to cost well over a thousand dollars if you can buy it separately. The 32GB model added at least $900 to the laptops that offered it (mostly subnotebooks only available in Korea and Japan). Flash prices are dropping, but getting that much Flash running in parallel to offer that kind of read/write speed is still expensive, and will be for a few years yet. Unfortunately.
  • OEMs fail to configure Windows XP for dual-core systems - Apparently Windows XP2 does not automatically sniff out whether or not a dual-core processor is being used and the configuration has to be done manually.
  • DLP Pico-Projector For Cell Phones - The projector itself is small enough to sit on your fingertip!!
  • Nintendo fights Wii modchips with new motherboard - Nintendo has changed the design of the Wii games console to combat modchips. Photographs appear to show several design changes on the latest Wii motherboards. New positioning of traces on the motherboard reduces the spacing between some contact points, making it MUCH more difficult to solder modchip connections into place, the reports say.
  • Bizarre Hexagon Spotted on Saturn - One of the most bizarre weather patterns known has been photographed at Saturn, where astronomers have spotted a huge, six-sided feature circling the north pole. Rather than the normally sinuous cloud structures seen on all planets that have atmospheres, this thing is a hexagon.
  • Ferrari Enzo crashed by Eddie Griffin - Actor Eddie Griffin goes behind the wheel of a $1 million Ferrari Enzo on the Irwindale Speedway for a charity event where he crashes it (video). One word 'Nasty'.

@OEMs fail to configure Windows XP for dual-core systems

OEM's are pathetic than. This is OLD but readily AVAILABLE news/information.. a few keystrokes in Google and this information is readily available. IMO, pretty sad OEM's didn't know this stuff considering it's their business, lmao. As to performance, I would never know since I had these changes in since day 1 when I got my dual core. Any real gamer would have done the same, imo.

You should also have the latest chipset drivers too.. This article doesn't mention that at all. Old chipset drivers = memory errors and BSOD and dataloss on your Hard drives.
