Atari has released a new patch (local US mirror ~ 192MB)  for Boiling Point: Road to Hell, updating the European edition of the recent first-person role-playing action game by Deep Shadows to version 2.0. This massive patch improves stability, physics, AI and weapon balance, along with implementing numerious bug fixes. Have been playing Boiling Point with the 2.0 patch for around 15 hours now. Everything seems pretty well fixed. (Have heard a 2.1 is being written though!) This game needs to be re-promoted with the 2.0 patch. It is a different game from the 1.0 reviews everywhere. While it's easy to say Atari should not have rushed the release, the fact is freeform rpg/adventure games with some shooting are a very rare genre. Last title like this was Deus Ex (or Deus Ex 2 if you want!) or maybe System Shock 2.

If you're thinking of getting this game, I would give it a score of 90% with the 2.0 patch applied. Read any review and ignore the negative comments and that's what you have with Boiling Point now. Can highly recommend it.
