The wait is finally over! Electronic Arts has finally released the playable demo (local US mirror - FIXED working ~ 546.3MB) for Battlefield 2, allowing you to try out Digital Illusions' multiplayer shooter sequel which will begin shipping under the EA GAMES brand starting Tuesday, June 21, 2005. The demo offers the Gulf of Oman map, 16-player single player, and 16 and 32-player multiplayer support. The 546.3 MB download can also be found on GameSpot, FileFront, FileRush, WP, GH, 3DGamers, 3D Downloads, 4DPlayers.de, Fragland.

A standalone Win32 demo server is also available (local US mirror ~ 35.1MB).
System Requirements: Windows XP (32-bit) with Admin rights, 1.7 GHz Pentium 4 / Athlon XP or greater, 512 MB or more, 460MB of HD Space, DirectX 9.0c compatible (*video), DirectX 9.0c compatible (sound), Video card must have 128 MB or more memory and one of the following chipsets:NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 or greater, ATI Radeon 8500 or greater.

ATI Cards and Battlefield 2 Demo - In testing the demo, EA has encountered some visual issues on certain ATI cards with the previous Catalyst drivers (5.5) and are working with yesterday's 5.6 release to discover if the issue is resolved. If in playing the Battlefield 2 demo you encounter texture corruption of any kind, we recommend rolling back to the Catalyst 5.1 drivers. ATI is aware of this issue and is working to resolve it.

For all of you having the game crash to desktop on launch, you're in luck. Try downloading these drivers: Omega Radeon Catalyst v2.6.0.5a (5.1) (thanks TotalBF2.com)
