Doom 3: Resurection of Evil trailer; previews - media

id Software's has released a new movie (local US mirror ~ Quicktime 34MB) trailer for Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil, the upcoming expansion pack to their first person shooter.The title will require the full retail version of DOOM 3 and will be available first week of April. In addition, GameSpy, GameHelper and Telefragged has posted their preview of DOOM 3 expansion, offering hands-on singleplayer and multiplayer impressions.

The final addition to the expansion's arsenal should be a treat for old-school DOOM fans: the double-barrelled shotgun. We didn't get to test it much in the single-player campaign, but we did get to play with it extensively during our multiplayer testing, and it's pretty lethal, with a satisfying rumble every time you fire it. Boomstick, indeed.

While you are waiting for the expansion, you can try this new beta version of The Doom Chronicles (Doom 3 mod). The demo features one single player level, but allows you see some of the great new effects and features that the full mod will include. The new features include the Impact Particle system, which will allow sparks and dust clouds among other things as well as the inclusion of their gravity gun.
