GD: The game isn't called Rome: Fear the Mighty Deities, but did such talk ever come up? Back in the days of Rome's reign, fear of the Gods was certainly present. Is that represented in the game? IR: We've folded the idea of the gods into the game. You can build temples to different deities in your towns and cities, and the god you choose for your people will make them marginally more efficient in one specific area. The idea is that people will work harder when they think the gods are helping them. Generals on the battlefield invoke the gods in their speeches before battle, of course. And some of them also take auguries (basically, do a bit of fortune telling) as well. Of course, a strong general makes his own destiny.
