Interesting, guess there's no reason to upgrade then... when the games stop working, I'll stop playing.

Thats kind of disappointing...I thought DX10 was supposed to be something of a new level. Being that games are only supposed to work on Vista which runs DX10 natively. (Or something like that, I can't remember off the top of my head, so I am probably wrong. Tired, still at work. >.<)

Well I've always known it wasn't bringing anything new to the table. They actually already said that a long time ago. My only interest is this admission..

all developers who support it will have to continue supporting DirectX9, and henceforth maintain two versions of the rendering code in their engine.

my only concern was:

"DirectX 10 isn't all that different from DirectX 9, so you'll mainly see performance benefits on DirectX 10 rather than striking visual differences"

I only upgrade when there are "striking visual differences". If quakewars, crisis, and others look arguably the same at 1024x768 in both versions of dx, I'll be ok. At the max i'll upgrade my cpu and overclock my gpu with some sort of water cooling rig...

Lets get those ps3 reviews cooking, might have to get one of those next summer after all the kinks are worked out.

...
with better performing architecture also comes the possibility to create more stunning environments. I't isnt the directx team that does all the graphics in the games, you know.
i think its too early to outrule it.
microsoft do have something planned for flight sim X, so there's something to it still..
