What a crock of $hit. My fps are no where near what Tom's BS Hardware says. 11fps? Pffffff. I hate Tom's Hardware. I play/played Oblivion and I didn't have 11FPS outside. It was around 30 and higher and I didn't skimp on anything other than no HDR and no AA. These results are a crock of crap.

amd 3500+, 2gb ram, 7600 gt oc, x-fi xtreme, win xp, 25 processes incl antivirus and windows firewall.

obviously better installed, configured and tweaked than Tom's.

my average fps is 37fps @ 1024x768 everything at 80% or 100% and AA and HDR off..

HDR is over-used in Oblivion, imo, and I don't personally care for it. Still I really doubt HDR would drag my fps down 20fps..

I stopped reading anything THW years ago and permanently when I saw he had some n00b book out. Guy sold out..

Like most hardware sites they are there to plug hardware for the vendors that they test and yes they are biased.

I am getting 23fps at the most intense areas in Oblivion ie Skingrad forest. but it was regularly around 30fps and 100+fps in caves.

That was all settings maxed inc HDR and playing in 1600x1200 -the only 1 thing i do not have on are 'shadows on grass'
'external shadows' i have at around 1/4

If i play without HDR and x2AA 1600x1200 max settings i get over 30fps although the draw distance is crap without HDR.

AMD64 3500+, 1gig crucial ballistix PC3200, BFG factory OC 7800GT 256mb PCI-E, Sound Blaster Audigy 2ZS and WinXP.

Read this review from ElitBastards concerning Ghost Recon and a 7800GT
