4 Cores in 1: Conroe E6600 with 8MB Cache! - Wow! I think I am going to skip Conroe for this! ) /thanks Jan Mahler/ AMD Socket AM2 has a secret weapon - It seems that all AM2 CPUs were outfitted with a support for Reverse-HyperThreading, an architectural change which enables software to t

Oh look now we get an article on how the Ageia card is somewhat decent. F whatever. You just know some dick was sitting there going, "Gee all these negative reviews, maybe I can write on that isn't so negative". Whatever.
I don't personally care to have more sparks come out of my gun or see additional flare ups in explosions. Most Fx and stuff are done adequately enough in games. PhysX is nothing more than a cheap eye candy enhancer. For $200 they can blow me. |

If it was done right I think we'd all have different oppinions. This first gen is just pure shit. That doesn't mean eventually it won't be amazing.
I think the problem is just a chicken and egg kind of thing. If they busted out with the hardcore stuff, then that would limit who they could sell the software too. They have to figure out a way to get people to buy the card while people without it can still use the same software. Unfortunately they're really fuckin that up.
If it was an underpinning of physics infrastructure in a game, with a glaze of graphics on top, then we'd really see the awesomeness that could come from better physics. The way it is now with graphics forming the infrastructure and physics added on top is just not working. Like for example when a car blows up, more is going to happen besides the doors and wheels flying off and the chassis turning black. The pressure from the explosion is going to tear the metal open in places if not completely apart. If the physics in games became more of a real life simulation I think that'd be one of the last steps toward the perfect game.
I like the idea of the new AMD mobo tech where they will give GPUs and PPUs access to a socket on the motherboard right next to the CPU, talk about bandwidth issues going bye-bye! |

| If it's not certified by HAVOK period, it's Shit. Games have for a long time supported HAVOK. You think HAVOK and it's "PARTNERS" are going to allow Ageia any room in the market? Come on you are dreaming. Welcome to 'Group Monopolisitc' actions. They are already working together to destroy Ageia and put out there own products. As far as I'm concerned. Thanks Ageia for showing ATI nVidia and HAVOK the needs for some sort of Accelerator.. but your point in the industry is nothing anymore. We have our own products that will ship with our cards and certified by Havok. It's sad and a lot may deny the fact there is monopolistic actions going on here, but if you read the news you find the pattern of business decisions going on it's bloody obvious. Check when ATI and nVidia signed up with Havok. Let's see if Ageia is around in a year when ATI and nVidia output their products. ATI and nVidia have the market literally to themselves, there is no room for someone to budge in on their profits. ATI and nVidia have been milking uncaring gamers for a long time. They are more than happy with their current profit margins. |
