Samsung has strengthened lock screen security in One UI 9. If you repeatedly enter the wrong PIN, pattern or password, the wait time between attempts keeps increasing. After 13 failed unlock attempts the device becomes permanently locked. The only way to use it again is to perform a factory reset.
