Pretty happy right now about going with AMD when I built my current rig. AMD just seems to have all the elegance and creativity, and Intel is like old IBM - resting on their laurels. Just brute force to get more speed, that only works for so long.

Doomed? To very low resale value, yes. Everything else was known before the purchase. X3D for games, Intel if you live up north in the cold.
