I thought my old R9800XT is a good for nothing card when I was installing FEAR on my computer. Well, I played it 1024@768 no soft shadows no AA no AF, texture quality medium, everything else on max and felt absolutely ok. Not that I got super-smooth performance but it was surprisingly acceptable. I think I'll upgrade only on summer, no need to spend extra $ now for me.
600$ for a videocard is really an insane price, even if you consider the performance provided.
