Star Wars Galaxies is a game enjoyed by many people since it's initial launch. Although it currently has a lot of issues, nothing is as drastic and gamebreaking as the

overhaul that is currently planned for release in May. In that month, or possibly earlier, Sony Online Entertainment, will release the Combat

This is old news, the Combat Upgrade went live last week.

"Radical changes, most of which do not work are making gameplay worse not better."
Opinion.

"Insufficent testing: Bugs from the first day in beta were not addressed before being pushed to Live."
Known bugs going live.. it's just as well other companies don't do this..

"There was no beta testing done on high level content (the game is 2 years old)"
I guess internal testing doesn't count.

"High level players are unable to earn experience in game because 80% of creatures are low level and only give 1 XP when killed."
High level players earn experience from the other 20% of creatures that are at the same level or higher? How many other MMORPGs let you gain large amounts of XP from grinding low level content as a high level player?

"Creatures that are the same”level” or higher are certain death for players."
This is stated like it is a fact for all players. I guess this is about a solo player, although I didn't have a problem killing something of the same level solo. Players in groups will have no problems. Different player templates, and thus roles, will have differing abilities to solo. I don't expect a Blaster in City of Heroes to be able to solo like a Fire Tank.

"No documentation was released regarding how the new system is supposed to work."
Apart from the documentation on the official web site entitled "Combat Upgrade Documentation" http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com/combat_upgrade/

"SOE is taking a "big brother" approach to negative feedback and is banning people that do not post positive feedback."
I not sure what SOE is supposed to do about feedback like links to pictures of SOE as Nazis.

Over 14,000 people have signed the petition, although one person has signed at least 3 times on the first page, and over 21,000 people have downloaded a combat upgrade profession calculator from www.bloodfin.org

If your voice is loadest it doesn't make what you're saying right.

For those of you whom liked swg for it's original feel and gameplay wave good bye. The combat upgrade is nothing but a ripoff from games such as worlds of warcraft, Ever Quest2, and Guild wars. On top of that, the devs rushed to push the revamp live and if you think the game had bugs and lag before, you are about to enter the Twilight Zone of lag and the hall of bugdom. The bugs are to numerous to list. Here are just a few: bright, seizure inducing flashes during transitions, waypoints and wp monitor broke, force heal broke, special attacks broke, and sometimes your character is just plain unable to move. If you buy now your basically paying sony to beta test their product. Personally, as a year long gamer of swg , I feel the old dev staff was either fired or brainwashed and wouldn't consult or check with the majority of the already dedicated client base it had. Instead, based their actions on what other firms were catering to. The short attention span of an average, blood thirsty, kill the other weaker player and cry foul if you lose, 14 year old. The Devs even resorted to purging the negative posts on their forums to keep new or future players from being poisoned by such malcontent. If you previously played swg you will no longer recognize it or the people you used to play with. (if they were over 18 they quit) If you are already a jedi knight you will most likely adapt ok and enjoy the disco version of my lil pony graphics and game play. As a jedi you can now actually defend yourself easily against a bounty hunter. If you were a padawan you need to hunt in a group in order to kill something on your level to get xp, and if you hunt in a group you get visability and soon have 5 blood thirsty bounty hunters on you. which usually results in death and the loss of a days xp. By the way if you are not a Jedi knight you are forced to be a bounty Hunter if you want to survive the in this now PVP universe. If you are, color Blind (which 1 in 5 men are including myself), just starting or were almost to the point of Jedi, you have a long, painful, and costly road ahead of you. The new game play has nerfed the armor, weapons, skills, and xp. Besides changing and nerfing the gameplay, skills, weapons, and xp, they have also changed all the icons and some of theses are live action and very annoying. The Ham bar is diferent shades of the same color , which makes it a sudden surprise death blow for color blind guys like myself. Combat consists of push the correct button and wait, push the button and wait, push the butt... Darn it! I'm dead. Didn't notice the stupid Ham bar changing shades, because I can't! You have to find an opponent that is the same combat level as you and get 3 friends to help you kill it or kill something weaker by yourself and get no xp. Sony was headed in the right direction by adding content like jump to light speed and rage of the wookies, this is what fans were asking for. In one's search to fix the plumbing, one doesn't demolish the house. I admit they had a few common problems, but none that couldn't be fixed. It still could be a award winning game , but my suggestion is to buy or play something that is proven and beta tested and wait for sony to get it's head on straight, take care of their current clients, and decide to fix their problems instead of chasing after other peoples customers.
