The chaps over at Anandtech have posted a highly detailed analysis of what is under the hood of the two upcoming consoles. Guess who is coming out on top?

It's nearly impossible for the Xbox One not to be a substantial upgrade over the Xbox 360. The fact that Microsoft could ship a single integrated SoC instead of

We already have the Windows kernel running on phones, tablets, PCs and the Xbox, now we just need the Xbox OS across all platforms as well.

The problem is that two of those four are shit. Windows phones are crap and always have been. I owned one. After 8 months of pain, I bought out the contract to get rid of it and buy an Android. The tablets are likewise clearly inferior to offerings from Apple and Google. My wife and I own about a dozen PCs, laptops, tablets, and phones between us. With the exception of the desktop boxes that I built for us, (gaming for me, media creation for her), everything is either Apple or Google.

I understand the allure and advantages of a fully integrated, multi-platorm OS, and I firmly believe that such a convergence will occur in the next few decades. But I do not see it coming from Microsoft. When I look at MS, I don't see a scrappy, agile company with a bright future; I see a fat, lumbering giant with gout and rotten teeth, one that is trying desperately to prop up a failing business model.

I wonder how long before Microsoft just simply allows Xbox games to also be played on PC as part of unifying the experience across multiple devices (or just release all their games including exclusives on PC as well). With the similar processor architectures, it seems more likely than before. Then they have two sets of gamers to draw revenue from. Especially considering how consoles are sold at a loss anyway and revenue is made on games. Only drawback is they are probably worried that piracy will be too rampant on PC but the 360 had the same problem anyway.

The more I hear about both consoles the less I want either.
They are following Apples bad example of releasing a locked up tight box thats not user friendly and expect lots of money for little hardware.

Now M$ are going to steal money from 2nd hand sales and games are linked to accounts instead of consoles? What is 4 people all with their own accounts want to play the same game on the same console? Will they have to pay 4x for the 1 game? F!U! M$

And you wonder why piracy is so much better and going to rise in the future with these consoles.

BUT for the PC its looking good. Never before has the PC looked so good as a gaming machine. None of the crap consoles are getting. Still the PC has bad DRM but pirates remove that in the first day so its not even seen these days in the pirated game scenes.

I hope nobody buys these crappy consoles and M$ and $ony wonder whats happened? DO you think its the BS you put into the crap console? No Backwards compatibility? WHY would I want to buy a new console when I have heaps of games that cant be played on it? I already have a PS2 and PS3 connected so there is no way I can have a PS4 also. If the PS4 could play PS1, PS2, PS3 and PS4 games then I would get it but since it cant play any of them then your SOL of you think Im going to pay for your crappy console $ony.
And M$, dont make me laugh. You have already lost the next gen war with that crap.
