Microsoft has filed for a Kinect-related patent, and it's a doozy of an application. The abstract describes a camera-based system that would monitor the number of viewers in a room and check to see if the number of occupants exceeded a certain threshold set by the content provider.

Interesting. We'll see what happens with all that. The whole IP/Copyright/Patent system has been abused and has been holding things back somewhat. We need it but then again we can't let it be abused either.

I like the look of the box but it's weaker spec wise and the features are lackluster. DVR overlay is a big fail. Live service to use apps that you already pay for is double dipping. Paywall for used games is again double dipping. Always online is a bit of a problem. Games are a problem as I believe the PS3 and PS4 have the exclusives again looks again. The other thing to take from all this is the PS3 made a better media box than 360 and even the xbox one at this point. MS took the media extender out so they can sit on a fat dick.
We'll see if Sony is just as retarded as MS. It's quite possible they will go full retard as well. |
