On Friday, Electronic Arts made the decision
to rename the Taliban multiplayer faction in Medal of Honor

so it is ok and normal to shoot them IRL, but it is not ok to "shoot" them in the video game. What? Would that piss them off or something? |

They are talking about controlling a Taliban character fighting a coalition character or seeing a character labeled as such firing at you.
I can see where they are coming from. It's a hard thing being sensitive when you are making media that is covering a conflict that is currently happening versus one that has happened.
So why not meet in the middle. Make it an option to turn off so if one is fighting against, or for, the terrorist faction they see the opposing force tag and not Taliban. Which might also mean a texture change as well, I haven't looked into what they are supposed to look like.
Much like the option to turn off/on blood or language. Leave it to the player to decide what they are comfortable with viewing. |

It's ok to kill people. Just be damned sure you do it in the name of the 'correct' god. |

| I don't see what the big deal is? The only issue I can see realistically is they are giving too much credit to a small time organization. I'm of the opinion at this time that even the old school mafia rings were more powerful even. You could basically say the same about them that the only power they have is usually in their own neighborhoods. |

| Its all about politics. The US Army doesn't want any substantiation of the Taliban and fair enough if any advice/content was given without MoH presenting their intentions. However, people play military shooters for their own reasons and politics isn't one of them. I suspect the issue won't affect sales. Another game of the same genre was Novalogic's Delta Force Task Force Dagger. |

| I still don't get it. Shooting and killing Tabs IRL is fine, calling them in the news is fine, calling them in newspapers is fine, calling them in video game is "sensitive" and not fine. It's like Hitler saying "naming opposing faction as "yews" in that game is sensitive issue." |
