Get Observer and Alan Wake's American Nightmare for free - freegame
(hx) 11:10 PM CEST - Oct,17 2019 - Post a comment / read (1)
The Epic Games Store is giving away not one, but two creepy games in time for Halloween - both Alan Wake's American Nightmare and Observer are available for free from October 17 to October 24. The psychological horror games will replace Surviving Mars and its DLC as the free weekly content offered in the Epic Games Store.

Alan Wake's American Nightmare is a spin-off of the classic thriller Alan Wake. Much of the game is structured around an episode of Night Springs, an in-universe show that's an obvious homage to The Twilight Zone. Alan Wake's friend is asleep in a motel room while the show plays on the TV, and a narrator explains the action as it plays out. In the episode, Alan is trying to chase down his evil doppelganger, Mr. Scratch, but gets stuck in a time loop and must keep repeating his actions.

Observer is a cyberpunk horror game from Layers of Fear developer Bloober Team that stars Rutger Hauer (you know, the guy from Blade Runner). It's set in a futuristic Poland, where you play as Daniel Lazarski, a detective who can hack people's brain implants in order to interrogate them. When Daniel receives an unexpected call from his estranged son, a fragmented, trippy mystery lays itself out before you.

After that another Free Game Collection will take its place, offering Layers of Fear and Q.U.B.E. 2 at no charge.

League of Legends: Wild Rift announced - console
    (hx) 10:49 PM CEST - Oct,16 2019 - Post a comment
Riot Games has announced League of Legends: Wild Rift, a new five-versus-five multiplayer online battle arena game due out for iOS, Android, and consoles in 2020. Pre-registration is available now via Google Play.
When is League of Legends: Wild Rift coming out in my region? Which platforms?

For mobile, we’re coming to iOS and Android, and you can pre-register on the Google Play Store right now. For console… we’ll have more info on that a bit later in 2020. Stay tuned by using the box above.

Is Wild Rift cross-platform between PC and mobile / console?

No—the games differ in a few ways, but both include the core five-versus-five MOBA gameplay you expect from League of Legends. Adding cross-platform between League PC and Wild Rift would require compromises of competitive integrity, and we want to make sure the gameplay feels fair and fun no matter which platform you’re most comfortable on.

During certain big moments throughout the year, we’ll try to coordinate event themes and releases between League PC and Wild Rift, and we’re exploring the possibility of cross-platform play between mobile and console, but nothing locked in yet.

What’s the difference between this and League on PC?

So basically, we rebuilt the game from scratch (like… the whole thing). Refreshed models, animations, game systems, and more—but keeping true to the core League of Legends gameplay you already know. We didn’t want to just port League on PC 1:1—we want to make sure Wild Rift feels like it was designed for new platforms, and use that opportunity to make a bunch of improvements to the game. While you won’t get your unlocks from League PC, you’ll get some cool rewards for the time you’ve spent in the PC version. More to come on that in 2020!

What are the minimum mobile specs?

This isn’t set in stone, but we’re aiming to make the game as accessible as possible across as many devices as we can. Here are our current targets for mobile specs:

For Android, we’re hoping to have compatibility to the equivalent to a Samsung Galaxy A7: 1GB RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, and Adreno 306 GPU.

For iOS devices, we’re aiming to have Wild Rift run on iPhone 5S and later.

Kingdom Under Fire II Spellsword class trailer - movie
    (hx) 10:34 PM CEST - Oct,16 2019 - Post a comment
Publisher Gameforge and developer Blueside have released a new set of trailers for Kingdom Under Fire II introducing the Spellsword, one of five character classes featured in the game.
With her mastery of ice and lightning magic, the Spellsword is a powerful adversary who shouldn’t be underestimated!

A relative of the Dark Elves, the Spellsword combines her magical runes to produce ever new attacks or to heal herself, compensating for her relatively shallow health pool. On the battlefield she darts and jabs with agility, wielding sword and scepter.

She was the fruit of a forbidden experiment that harnessed the power of the gods themselves to combine the blood of the Ancient Elves and the present-day Dark Elves. After barely escaping the appalling research, a Dark Elf with fair skin meandered through the world to live cast out from both the Elves’ and the Dark Elves’ societies. She found refuge with the Azilia Knights in a place where she could avoid the watchful eyes of possible pursuers.
Kingdom Under Fire II is due out for PC in North America and Europe through multiple digital platforms in November. Pre-orders are currently available via the game’s official website.

World of Tanks enCore Ray Tracing Demo - demo
    (hx) 10:15 PM CEST - Oct,16 2019 - Post a comment
The latest enCore RT demo gives World of Tanks players a taste of ray tracing, specifically shadows, without requiring NVIDIA RTX graphics cards. In fact, this implementation was made through Intel's Embree library (part of OneAPI) and is compatible with all DirectX 11 graphics cards. According to Wargaming, the performance of enCore RT will be as good or better as the ray tracing implementations we've seen so far in games that support NVIDIA RTX, while you can expect the quality to be very close. However, it should be noted that the developers themselves have admitted ray traced shadows will only be cast from tanks as the performance would have otherwise suffered.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 Delayed - briefly
    (hx) 07:57 PM CEST - Oct,16 2019 - Post a comment / read (2)
Hardsuit Labs has just announced via a blog post that Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will not release in March 2020, and will be delayed. And although the game is still planned for a 2020 release, there isn’t currently any ETA. Hardsuit Labs claimed that it values quality over making the Q1 launch window. Therefore, and instead of releasing a rushed product, the team decided to delay the game.
To all fans of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2

For the last three and a half years, we’ve worked hard to bring you a worthy successor to Bloodlines 1. To us, that meant not only making good on the ambitions of this remarkable game, but also a duty to ensure we would not repeat its mistakes. Today, we have to tell you that we need some more time to get you the game you’ve been waiting for. Although Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 will still launch in 2020, we have decided to value quality over making the Q1 launch window.

There are some things we wanted to hit under all circumstances when we set out to follow in Bloodlines’ footsteps: A deep, branching storyline; fascinating and amazingly acted characters; the rich universe of the World of Darkness. We firmly believe that we’re on the right track to get you all of this.

On the flip side, there’s the responsibility to avoid some of the issues that plagued the first game, which was famously launched too early. Over the last few months, it became clear that to stick to our original date would risk repeating that mistake. We won’t do that. In the end, everyone working on this game wants to offer you the best Bloodlines 2 we can.

This hasn’t been an easy- nor our first choice. Throughout 2019 we have been improving our processes and growing our teams, however it soon became clear that this alone won’t allow us to deliver the quality we want at the date we promised.

Your feedback was invaluable in this. It helped us give the proper weight to what we saw, as well. We’d like to thank you, and hope you’ll support us in the decision that came from it.

Many of us from Hardsuit Labs will be in Berlin for PDXCON. For those of you going, we look forward to seeing you there! We will be sharing insights into the development of Bloodlines 2 along with other steps we’ve taken to strengthen our development team to realize our ambitions for Bloodlines 2.

For those of you who won’t be there, we will be sharing more about this during the PDXCON Announcement stream on Saturday the 19th. We are also opening up a Reddit thread to answer any of your questions in the Bloodlines stream on the following Sunday.

Iron Danger Teaser Trailer - movie
    (hx) 11:20 AM CEST - Oct,16 2019 - Post a comment
Daedalic Entertainment today announced it has partnered with Action Squad Studios to launch Iron Danger - a new tactical combat RPG with simultaneous turns and time manipulation. Iron Danger is set in a world of magic and machinery that draws from both the Nordic myths that inspired J.R.R. Tolkien’s epic fantasy, and from modern steampunk and tech noir. Players take on the role of Kipuna, a sharp-minded village girl who becomes imbued with an ancient power that grants dominion over time and death. Drawn into the midst of a war between the city of Kalevala and the armies of the Northlanders, players must master their powers in order to protect mankind against total destruction. Players will also be able can rewind time for up to five seconds at any point in order to try different strategies and move combinations to find the right one for the job. Divinity: Fallen Heroes on hold - briefly
    (hx) 11:14 PM CEST - Oct,15 2019 - Post a comment
Larian Studios today announced a change in plans for Divinity: Fallen Heroes, the Divinity: Original Sin 2 tactical combat spin-off title that was announced earlier this year. Larian has decided to put the game's development on hold, meaning next month's release will no longer happen. The spin-off had been in development in partnership with the studio Logic Artists, but after considering the "development time and resources" that would be required to complete the project "in a fun and sustainable way," the game has been shelved for now. Logic Artists will also be parting ways with Larian to work on their own Expeditions series. Baldur's Gate III is what Larian is focusing its attention on, the much-awaited sequel to the classic BioWare role-playing saga.
It is with a profound sense of regret that today we announce Divinity: Fallen Heroes has been put on hold, as we fondly celebrate the work done so far. We’ve been working with Logic Artists for over a year since before the announcement on March 27, 2019. Though enthused by the reception of the announcement and the energy of our fans, we have taken many things into consideration over the course of the last few months, and today we’re ready to talk about its future.

Originally scheduled for a November 2019 release, it has become clear to everyone involved that the game will need far greater development time and resources than are available now to bring it to fruition, in a fun and sustainable way.

Going forward, we at Larian will continue to work on Baldur’s Gate 3 with news coming soon, and Logic Artists will be focusing on their own Expeditions games. As an independent developer ourselves, we understand and value the importance of a developer investing into their own IPs, and their own future.

We’re sorry for the players excited for Fallen Heroes, who will have to wait an unspecified period of time, but we strongly believe that bringing Fallen Heroes to fans should be done in a timeline that allows it to be developed soundly.

We value the work that everyone has put in to Fallen Heroes, and though we lament its status as of now, we all agree that there’s a great game in there that will sometime reach the players who await it.

Logic Artists shared the following statement: “It's always sad to put an exciting project on hold, but sometimes the realities of development and release schedules simply assert themselves in ways that are outside anyone's control. It's been an incredible honour to work with Larian on their Divinity IP, and everyone at Logic Artists has been blown away by how helpful and welcoming Larian has been throughout the project.

There's no doubt we've learned much that will benefit our own projects in the future, and we'll always be grateful for that experience. As our own team pivots to focus fully on the third installment of the Expeditions series and a new IP of our very own, we wish Larian the best of luck with Baldur's Gate 3. We can't wait to play it!”
